The point is you are holding Wakefield as a standard we should be aiming for but the reality is they are below us, so that doesn't make sense. St Helens is the standard we should be aiming for.

Well, Toulouse lost. If we are lucky enough to get a win from the next two matches, plus a win against Toulouse themselves, we can relax and focus on next season. It’s bizarre though how we’re technically still in contention for the top six.

Nah, he was referencing effort. If salary is reflective of skill then we have more skillful players than Wakefield. Ergo, if our players put in the effort of those that Wakefield are, we'd all be booking trains to OT.

I remember Wakefield beating us years ago at their place on Sky, John Kear was coaching them he said in the post match interview - a champion team will always beat a team of champions. Can't remember what year it was or who was coaching us at the time but it was a game we were expected to win. I don't think we've moved on much in that regard.

The arrogance of dismissing Wakefield's effort because of their league position is what I am perceiving to be smugness akin to "ha you don't want that effort, they're below us"


It's that mindset that arguably made Ruiz beat Joshua, made Sheffield beat Wigan and probably made Wakefield beat us 3 times this year.

God help us if we think that way towards Toulouse next week "meh these won't have any effort, they're bottom of the league, feet up lads"

There was absolutely no smugness in my post. Trying to emulate how Wakefield play seems daft when they sit lower in the league. We have seen out team put in decent displays with as much effort as anyone but only occasionally. Good win for Wakefield but they are 'not all that'

I didn't say that Wakefield were "all that" - I referenced the effort, desire, etc that they showed last night.

But if people want to read it differently, well there's not much I can do about that.

If we don't show some of what Wakefield showed last night then we are in massive trouble. We cannot afford to drift complacently through the rest of the season thinking that we are better than them so will be fine.
