| We need to be a bit careful with the Currie situation and not let home-town bias influence us.
If Currie was a Saints player, and we were linked with signing him, we wouldn't be that excited. We'd be saying stuff like he hasn't been really good since 2016, why are Saints willing to let him sign elsewhere? We'd be suspicious that this would be one of those Wire signings where we pick up a big reputation player whose best days are behind him. Why? Because we'd assume that Saints are ruthless and make tough decisions.
If we sign Currie to an extension, it will be received well on here, everyone will say it's great news, but it will only take 2 games into next season if we start badly and Currie isn't effective, and the inquest will start: why have we kept Price, a top club would have got rid by now; why did we re-sign Currie on the back of having a handful of good games in about 3 years, a top club wouldn't have, we're too nice, we're never going to win a Grand Final unless we're ruthless...

| I'd definitely keep Currie as rather optimistically and admittedly without much foundation, I think he can get back to being one of those names that you look out for on our team sheet. I also think that as we have quite rightly stood by him during those injury disrupted years we will be negotiating sensibly when it comes to this next deal, I wouldn't be too happy seeing him wearing a red vee unless it was a shirt swap after securing a GF victory

| Saints would sign Currie in a heartbeat, Wigan would sign Currie in a heartbeat, Leeds would sign Currie in a heartbeat. He is a proven international quality player, I’m sure he will sign a new deal and I’m sure he will continue the road to the player he was.
Had he not got injured, he’d be on marquee money by now I reckon.

And if my aunt had a dick, she'd be my uncle....
You are probably right. Most clubs would take a punt on Currie. He is definitely worth a punt.
However, the thing most people are saying is that he shouldn't be demanding a large salary on his recent history. He does not warrant being a top end earner right now.

I don't think he's a particularly good player anymore and I'd be amazed personally if Saints were after him. I've not heard that we are and I've heard plenty of outlandish rumours going round. He's certainly not being talked about openly.
The only way I can see this being true is if Warrington don't want him and he's available for a lot less. I imagine there will be a lot less players moving between clubs as all clubs will inevitably look to claw back some of the money they have lost with potentially a whole season of gate receipts and matchday income lost. I'd be amazed if clubs like Saints, Wigan, Leeds and Warrington weren't looking to their academies for players for a few years.

| Not a sniff of any Currie rumours in Wigan. I wouldn't be disappointed in signing him but we already have one player on our books with the same terrible injury record and we are all hoping he is past all that now (Manfredi) Would you do a swap for Greenwood or Isa? Hell of a player Greenwood but for some reason he seems to have downed tools.

| Yes Manfredi, also a terrific player, has had similar awful luck with injuries. Hopefully both he and Currie are past that now and can achieve their career goals.

| Should Currie sign for Saints it would be a step backwards for him. Consider their pack going forward. No Thompson No Taia. The rest are all old Roby LMS Peyroux Amor all over 30. Ashworth considered not good enough on Red Vee that leaves Walmsley Lees Knowles and several youngsters as yet unproven

When you look at it like that, it makes sense that they would want him as part of a rebuild. Could be legs to the rumour

That's because of lockdown.
Wait till the pubs reopen, it only takes one person to start talking bull and they spread it to their mates, their mates spread it to their mates and 2 weeks down the line it has ripped through the whole population.
STAY ALERT. CONTROL THE RUMOURS. STOP LIES.

What sort of shape is our pack going to be in? BMM leaving...take out the over 30s and we'll be Philbin, D Clark, Kibula, Hughes, Johnson, Davis. Not going to give Saints sleepless nights is it.

Don’t worry about it we will most likely sign another winger.

| You may be right. Eamonn McManus ordered chicken kung po but the guy on the phones mixed up the slips and told the deliveroo driver he wanted curry. The driver spread it round a live animal market and that's where it all began.
The question is will this just die out after a few weeks like the seasonal rumours that we get every year from rubber duckie, or will we have to adjust to living it for several years, like Sculthorpe signing on Boxing Day, or Widnes whispering in Richie Myler's ear.
