The issue should be is Riley Dean good enough NOW? While everyone rightly praises him as a 17 year old debutant, if Patton had made the same mistakes there would be immediate calls for him to be dropped. He isn’t ready for regular senior rugby and it would be unfair to heap that pressure on him at the moment.

Harvey Livett , give him a run out in the halves, when was the last time he played a full match there, was it when we thrashed saints at our place, 2017. Him and Patton tore saints to pieces that night. He as the skill to open a defence with a pass or a kick and he’s a big unit.

At this point of the season where we are finding it hard to get a win we should roll the dice and go with Riley Dean & Matty Smith partnership. Patton has had his chance - two thirds of the tries conceded on the left defence, an outdated move of kicking to the wing that most teams have neutralised and a smart accurate passing game where he can pick out the chap eating a hot dog in the front row seats every time. ROLL THE DICE!
