Rarely are there players where the level of skill they have propels a team to prominence.
A player like Mal Meninga did with Saints.
There are 2 players around today that can have that level of clout.
SBW and Inglis.
If SJM and Middleton are serious about making Warrington the Man Utd of RL....we need to be in for signing one if not both the later.

Lets hope the strategy doesn't lead us to Leeds Utd, rather than the Man Utd!!

Anyone who says no thanks to SBW even for half a season is an idiot. Who cares if he clears off after his payday? he'd be worth every penny.

Think of what the younger lads would learn off of him. The media coverage. The shirt sales. The extra tickets we'd sell just so people can watch him play, from both home and away fans.

SBW would be a true Marquee signing.

Indeed - only Warrington fans could quibble at signing SBW - especially in this current climate of bog average players in SL. Obviously it's not going to happen but every team in Super League or NRL would love to sign him. Mind you if Smith is still here - SBW would struggle to shift Jack Hughes out of the squad.

Would they learn as much as our halfbacks did from Joey, or our pack from Asotasi, as the skill transfer there has been somewhat lacking perhaps?

Another short term "fix" really isn't what we need.

You're welcome to dream that SBW will be great for the club, but please allow others to express their desire for realism and sustainable player development.

I'd be delighted if you signed him. Unlikely to affect where next year's trophies end up but would add immense interest to the comp.

Considering we have a team at the top of the competition that has got there through team work & without expensive players, i think that is the way forward. Not much use breaking the bank for a prima donna if you can only afford a team of poorly paid reserves to play alongside him. Our quality this season has not been much better without an overpriced star in our ranks.

I'm worried about him making the trip to australia, he's wearing flight socks on the field during matches, god knows how he'll cope during a twenty hour journey.
