Quote lefty goldblatt="lefty goldblatt"Myler is not a bad player at all. He's quite good actually..
The trouble is, he's not a £100,000 (or however much it was we paid for him) either.

When Myler arrived in 2010, he was 'promising' - Five years later, he is still 'promising' (with a lot of 'frustrating' thrown in), and there lies his problem.
He really should be the finished article as a half back by now. Its not like he has been playing with a poor side that has struggled. He's had decent talent all around him to help his game flourish and still he doesn't resemble a top class half back, which is what the side is crying out for.
I'm not entirely sure on what to do with him to be honest - To me, he looks like he is always going to be the secondary figure in any half back partnership, a nice luxury player if you are lucky enough to have a Lee Briers to do all the creative stuff.
So maybe we could allow him to play that secondary role to a developing Gareth O'Brien and just allow Myler to play his own game and not actually expect him to ever become something he isn't?
Personally, I wouldn't shed too many tears if Myler did depart in the next few months, but similarly he is useful enough to make a decent contribution if he remains part of the squad.... My main concern is that his cut of the wage budget isn't an amount that should be being spent on somebody who could offer a lot more for that cash, than Myler currently offers.
