| If you look at the RFL site it says that Samoa included him in their initial 26 man squad, but omitted him when this was trimmed to the official 24 man squad. Presumably the RFL have got the official story from the World Cup organisers ??
If this version is true, Asotassi has been omitted from the squad, so not surprising that he didn't get on the plane.
I suppose the question then is why was he omitted from the squad after being tipped to be captain ?

No problem. Chris Riley to prop, Penny to the wing.

| So if Asotasi isn't good enough to get in the Samoan squad...
This doesn't sound good to me. Hopefully the matter will be resolved and we can all look forward to seeing him next season.

| When the coach was quizzed...his answer was "you're better asking him that"
Ouch!

| What a bizarre situation! At the risk of jumping the gun you have to question whether it was the right decision to bring him over. A few years ago yes, but not so sure now. Carvell by all accounts is leaving the club against his will and faces an uncertain future with Bradford who are currently under special measures. I guess time will tell.

| I wouldn't see this as massively relevant to him playing for us. Asotasi is an ex New Zealand international that had switched nations to Samoa anyway so I doubt its the end of the world for him to not play for them. Maybe he has had a row with them behind the scenes. The coaches are Matt Parish and Sean Long so who knows if its as professional a set up as Tony Smith and Warrington. Roy Keane had his issues with the Ireland squad but it didn't mean he didn't turn up for Man United.
Give him the benefit of the doubt and judge him on how he plays here. I expect there will be a lot of our fans that want to get in to him if he has a slow start.

| As a Wire fan, I really don't give a stiff one, if he's missing for the World Cup. It's one less opportunity for him to get injured.
On the other hand, it's not very professional, is it? Hope he's not going to be a prima donna

| Is it Samoa where rugby league is the national game ? I hope Parish & Long get a positive response from their players to put up a good show.

| I can't see Warrington being happy about it considering the marketing for the game has revolved around him.
