| I also thought it was a missing something with regards to showing off the sport (I was half-expecting Tomkins to leap out of the bushes and flatten Wiggo at the end!), but it's a strong message for those that don't already follow RL, and the Extraordinary ad has the tough stuff this is missing so together I think they work well.

| I love the tag line "It's too tough for me, deep down i would love to be a rugby league player"
Get fans from other sports Cricket, Football etc training or playing and make the advert look like it is an advert for their respective sport and then at the end have that tag on the end.
Potential, especially as Sky can in effect advertise both sports at the same time even if the first is indirect.

| its just about right.
WE all tend to overdo the Greatest athletes and sport in the world thing.
If we start preaching it on TV ads as well it may only serve to alient our game if we start to look a bit aloof or pompous in the way we look down on other sports toughness or skill levels...etc
the fact that a guy who is very popular in this country and also very good at his own sport simply states "he would like to be a rugby player...but isnt tough enough" is good enough for me...
I like the simplicity of it ...Tomkins not speaking or doing anything outrageous just jogging along.... it may also provide a bit of discussion as many non RL fans will see it and not know Tomkins and want to know who the hooded guy is.....
Great work SKY.... shame on the RFL for still no sponsor for this great game..........
When do we see the commercial with Nigel Woods big fat head chopped off and rolling??

Quote Moving Forward="Moving Forward"Shocking advert. Shows no RL or nohing. Thought it was for cycling when I first saw it.
We need adverts like this www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dq0PcGikqGU'"
There is always someone complaining, isn't there.
I bet if they didn't have any adverts showing, you would be complaining that SL is not getting any coverage.
Did you see the advert for "Extraordinary Rugby League" last night on ITV. No doubt you will be complaining that a RL advert is on a TV station that doesn't cover RL.
Why are RL fans never happy?

| Arguably the best TV adverts of modern times don't actually feature the products, I am sure marketing folk would have a fancy term to describe and explain this. The Guinness surfing advert immediately springs to mind.

| It's a great advert. Slow build up, nice and subtle and interesting spin on the "look how bloody tough and hard we are" narrative that pervades most RL advertising.
As much of a despicable person Tomkins is on the field, he is going to leave something of a gap when he leaves (as opposed to now where he just leaves gaps in Wigan's defensive line). Lenaghan pretty much conceded he was off at the end of year 3 of his contract last Thursday on Radio Manchester. Wonder who the new poster boy will be when he goes to Union?

An opinion is an opinion and everyone is entitled to one.
I just think that RL is a fast flowing and high tempo game, and that advert is a slow building and it doesn't reflect our wonderful game.
RL is commonly known for big hits and tough games. What does that advert show? A fella who has nothing t do with the game cycling up a hill and a player running along side him.

That is why there is little point in showing them. Less well known however that the BBC Sports Personality of 2012 thinks it is the greatest game of all.

| I don't mind the ad, at all. A sideways look at the game, without the typical action scenes. Well done, Sky
Thank God it's something new, as opposed to the stereotypical "big hits" accompanied by sound-affected "oooooffffffff"s when a player is tackled, and obligatory cod heavy-metal music over the top of it all. I'm praying that Sky now have the balls to end the crap intro i.e. cod heavy-metal music and robots running into each other, whenever SL/Boots'n'All is on. Wont hold my breath, though.

I just think that a fella cycling reflects to our game.
How can we attract new fans to watch SL if they don't know wha they're geting?
