Fully Agree Senior Fatbelly. Something needs to be sorted with that corner of the ground before a game is even played there, there have been far too many Stadia related disasters in sport as it is... let's not bring RL down that route also

Exactly. This should be taken very seriously. I have doubts over the game on the 20th.'"
Given how tight building regs are these days especially where the public are involved i can't see this stadium being signed off by building control in the near future, they will need to find out why this has happened more than once, to sign it off as complete and safe they will need to be 100% certain that it won't happen again and at the min that can't be guaranteed.
At a guess i'd say its a structural issue as the design has been changed since the original blueprints were given the ok, it will have different stress and weak points now. When stadiums are designed they will take into account swirling winds inside that put an upwards pressure on a roof, it certainly shouldn't be happening as these arn't the strongest winds that were gonna get.
It could be something as simple dodgy fastenings that arn't strong enough to keep the roof in place, dodgy workmanship or at worse the structural integrity of the stadium needs a rethink.'"
Worrying times for them.

I imagine there will be a significant number of helmets at each game there.

| The Halliwell Jones Stadium - structurally secure since 2004.
I'd love to know what Jon Wilkin thinks of this - he's got an opinion on everything else.

Touching, isn't it? Funny, his alter-ego 'Onedego' doesn't seem quite so sympathetic on the Saints forum.

For the overall development it was Barr, who are experienced in stadium builds. However, they subcontracted the roof work to a company in Carlisle who usually construct roofs for Tesco (and in fact did the Tesco roof on the stadium site). However, according to their website they are inexperienced in the kind of work they did on the stadium. I guess that is showing!

He needs to get a life, if he's not drooling about flags and Brigantes, or counting the gate at the DW, he's having a go at Saints and us. I'm amazed he finds the time to do his marketing degree.

Was it really only after 4 mins I seem to remember us winning something like 15 -4 when the match was abandoned.

On 14th March, Paul Cullen is sent off at St Helens and given an eight match ban which forces him out of the Challenge Cup semi-final and subsequently the final at Wembley. The match at St Helens was a replay of the match on 1st March, which was abandoned after 4 minutes when part of the stand roof blew off at Knowsley Road.
