There use to be another poster who went by the name york79 as that was his first game too. Use to post more on the Wolfweb and I think he had a tissy-fit on this board and stopped posting.

He had a big, personal issue with Briers and sweared he’d never go to the H&J until Briers had been sacked by the club. Just imagine all the great rugby he’s missed – I bet he feels a bit of an idiot now.

What used to be the numbers at alliance matches? Most people i speak to used to go or at least say they did! I was one of those people but too young to remember the crowd!

One of my favourite memories is when we played Oldham at their place (think it was a CC tie) it was bloody cold and snowing.
The pitch was like a cow-field and at half time a bloke ran out from the Wire end and tackled the Oldham mascot around the halfway line.
He turned and walked back triumphantly to the Wire fans when the mascot got up and performed one of the best tackles I have ever seen on a rugby pitch, causing this bloke to lose his trousers/dignity, covered head to toe in mud. Funny as F.

I used to love the A team games on Friday nights. Mind you, I was often rebuked by old fellers in the stand for my swearing - 'you're not watching the first team now lad, mind your language'
