| Quote worthing wire="worthing wire"There's nothing 'unlucky' about it. They didn't get enough points to stay up. They've been no more of a breath of fresh air than Ipswich, Hull, Reading, etc were when they came up. And those three all at least managed to stay up - Ipswich and Reading finishing in the top seven or eight, IIRC.'"
Perhaps not 'unlucky', but how can you say they've not been a breath of fresh air? They came up from 6th (they were one of the favourites to go down in the Championship) and were totally written off even before the season began. They had a great start and were very good from home, playing attractive football. They did well to take it to the last day with the almost non-existant budget Holloway had to work under.
Mid-table sides in the Championship will look at Blackpool and review what they have done, hoping they can do the same.

Apologies, I think my first post was a bit confusing. 'This sport' was referring to Rugby League, and I was just asking people's opinion on whether or not they thought we would ever see promotion and relegation to and from our top flight again.
The drama and spectacle of the last day of the regular season is something we don't have in RL, and it would make for great entertainment. To be honest I'm not a fan of the license system and would like to see the old structure return.

If you meant away from home, I suppose you're right - they won the same amount of away games as Manchester United

I did. I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. They came up, they were written off by critics, and yet still played nice attractive football rather than sitting back like most promoted teams would do.
Holloway has done a very good job there but I think it'll be a big job getting them back up there again.

It's a shame there's nothing like this in Rugby League. Do you think we will ever see promotion and relegation in this sport again in our lifetime?'"
We are never going to have a survival Sunday like they do in football.
Can you imagine the country being gripped to the edges of their seat to find out if Salford City Reds or Celtic Crusaders go down?
Gabby Logan in the studio updating us "yes Celtic are now 24-12 down, and Salford have conceded again to go 34-10 down...what does this mean for the points difference Ray?
At least we have something more exciting than football can ever have....the franchise decision...it's right up there with FIFA and the World Cup bid complete with speculation about corruption

Were not a national sport though, although i agree that franchising should be scrapped, were not going to get national exposure on national tv for the final day of super league whatever happens.

No. They qualified for it, they're playing in it alongside Spurs. Fulham having a player sent off MIGHT affect their qualification via "fair play" rankings (its that close)

Is that the Blackburn team who United have only beat once in the last four seasons at Ewood Park. Including a last minute equaliser for Utd when going for the title in 08, a 0-0 that essentially stopped United winning the league last season or the 1-1 this season, which they led for most of the match and it took a needless penalty for United to score.
Or is that big Sam's Blackburn, where he only managed 4 times against United, including the last minute Tevez goal mentioned above.
Or big Sam's teams in general where at Bolton he got almost as many victories and draws as United got wins.

Ok you've done a bit of googling Latchfordbob..But you've failed to mention the 7-1 surrender at Old Trafford this year..
Or the game last week after Hernandez dived for the penalty which Rooney converted.
Blackburn then preceeded to allow Utd the ball and put no pressure on them or made any attempt to win it back giving them the point they needed to claim the title..If thats not rolling over i don't know what is...
And thats the reason i wanted them to go down..
