How about praising the club for putting our sport out there in a massive advertising campaign? We have the best marketing team in Rugby League, we got 18k against Harlequins, no other club in Super League could manage that.

Wigan fans are great, Warrington fans are great. That's it in a nutshell for me. Your point about being bottom of the league stands up well IMO; you were averaging around 16k for home games that season and you sold out the West Stand at the HJ aswell as taking big numbers elsewhere. I do not begrudge Wigan a sellout crowd whatsoever. It took you a long time to generate the sort of crowds at the JJB/DW that you did at Central Park for a variety of reasons. Going to the DW is beginning to feel like going to 'Wigan Away' again, I really like it as a modern stadium; the atmosphere is crackling at times and while it will never be CP, of all the new stadia, it is by far my favourite.'"
Good Post. Hopefully this won't finish up being the usual Warrington/Wigan 'my dad's bigger than your dad' thread. Both Clubs are currently bdoing more to attract support than most of SL. It never ceases to amaze me that Clubs like Salford never seem to try to generate support. It should be a great night.
Apart from Wilderspool, Central Park will always be my all time favourite ground. It just 'was' Rugby League.

I reckon Leeds or Hull could if they discounted the tickets against Quins as much as you did for their home ties against them. Although your marketing is good you aren't the club who wins the best community based club each year. I forget which club wins that award. Reducing prices to put bums on seats is hardly straight out of Saachi & Saachi's main think-tank is it ?
However, I do love sticking it up the noses of Wendyball fans when they go on about the Latics and their Premiership status. I may be off the mark but I reckon the Pies get a bigger home attendance than their land lords which reflects well, not just on Wigan RL, but on the sport of Rugby League.

Great post.
I can praise Warrington for their crowds and their awesome away support but how anyone can say Wigan fans are fickle is beyond me.
Warrington need to extend the HJ so they can really go to town on marketing the big games. The Wigan game earlier in the year could have got 16k and it will be the same for the Saints game later in the season.

We need to sell out the HJ on a more consistent basis before looking to expand to be honest. Two sellouts per season isn't enough.

And until then, we don't need to expand the stadium IMO.

Spot on.
If the team can stay at or around the level that you've been at this year then within 2-3 years you'll be selling out a lot more frequently than a couple of games a season. As much as it pains me to admit it, I've enjoyed watching Wire this year, some of the attacking play has been very easy on the eye.
If you take Bradford's crowd differences from 10 years ago to today, you can easily see Wire steadily starting to fill the ground to the point where talk of expansion is a viable option.

I agree with your second comment re sticking it up the Latics, but you've missed the point with your first comment. Wigan would normally get 12-14,000 for a Quins match. If they sell 5,000 tickets at £10 each to two large companies who then give those tickets to their employees, then everyone gains. Wigan get £50,000 extra that they wouldn't normally get for a Quins game and will probably gain a few new fans.
