| Nothing wrong with being confident and aiming high. Everyone mocked Hull KR when their manager said he was aiming for the Grand Final last season. Although they fell short they were close. Warrington are a bit like Man City in football, they have invested massively over recent seasons compared to the other clubs. Not making the top 4 or failing to win a trophy would be a failure for the Wire this season.

Agreed. You can bet that Leeds and Saints begin every season with the aim and belief that they can win trophies, and so should we. If we fall short, so be it, but you've got to think like winners.

| Quote you got mail="you got mail"its a big call from atkins why he made comments like that is beyond me, the warrington guardian also are at fault for hyping us up no other players or coaches make bold statements, all other fans now are waiting in the wings now to rub it in if things dont go our way, tony smiths comments were spot on gives nothing away just says confidnce is high, should of just said if we are looking to improve on last seasons league position have a good cup run again, and make the play offs and hopefully the final'" Personally, i am made up he said what he did. I am sick and tired of hearing comments like 'we want a home play off tie', we want a top 4 finish', we want to improve on last season's league position' and even 'we want to beat saints' as hopes for the season. We should be aiming to win everything and so should all the other clubs. If people call it arrogant, so what? I call it ambition and self-belief.

Id liken Saints to everton, after a brief spell of success they're still are a long way behind their more successful neighbours.

Saints have had a glorious spell. Rugby league pre-1996 shouldn't be counted as it was played under a different, and illegitimate system.
So the scores in terms of trophies won are currently something like Saints 18, Wigan 2 and Warrington 1.

How does that work? Warrington have the same salary cap as everybody else difference being that's its only fairly recently we have been spending the maximum whilst other clubs have been spending more than the cap.
Prior to Atkins and Myler this close season the only main transfer fees (that I recall) would be for Gleason and Carvell and we got a considerable portion of Gleason's fee back.
So again how have we invested "massively ..... compared to other clubs"?

Has any other club bar Wigan spent anything on transfer fees? You have signed four or five players from other clubs in recent years.
You spent a good few hundred thousand pounds on Atkins and Myler alone. For Super League at the moment those fees are massive. Prior to those you were spending just as much as anyone else for a long time. You would also have bought Sinfield, Graham, Sculthorpe, Sonny Bill Williams, Willie Mason and FuiFui Moi Moi for next season had they not all turned you down.
I'd call the investment at Warrington 'massive' compared to the other clubs, certainly.

I can't believe Leeds got Ellis for nothing especially when we bid a big fee for him.
Didn't Saints pay transfer fees for Gardner and Wilkin and a fee to Parramatta for Jamie Lyon's release?
Wigan paid a massive fee for Fielden, a fee for Flanagan and as mentioned gave us a lot of our Gleason fee back.
I did acknowledge Atkins and Myler but that is this season not the "recent seasons" you referred to. So excluding them where is this massive investment compared to other clubs that Warrington have made?
