Forget installing all Antivirus software, if you have a trojan then none of these will install correctly.
Usually Trojans are written in such a way that the block new Antivirus software from being installed.
Install a peice of software called Malware bytes www.malwarebytes.org there is a free version for home users.
Run it, repair and reboot then run it again until it finds nothing else then you can install Antvirus Software.
If that doesn't sort it Call PC Doctor 01925 243249

| If that was me, i would try installing an anti spyware programme like Spybot S&D, the link is already on this thread, then install one of the free anti virus programmes like AVG or Avast. Turn off your system restore if it will allow it, some virus`s depedning how bad they are won`t let you do this, you will lose all your prtevious system restore points if you do this but you may have to reformat anyway depending how bad it is.
Then boot up your pc or laptop in safe mode, a lot of trojans and virus`s are designed to hide in your system restore points. Run both your anti spyware and ant virus programmes in safe mode, if this fails and it doesn`t remove the problem then follow Geordies advice and gibe him a casll as this seems to be his area from what he`s said above.
Its just something else to try, it works for quite a lot of virus`s, you will have to stop looking at porn as this is what can happen

| I had exactly this problem on the desktop this week.
It kept popping up telling me I had over 1,000 infected files due to a Trojan, a SillyBen and other such worms and bugs and that I could 'download a full version of Personal Antivirus for 60 dollars', which was odd on two accounts; a) We're in England and b) I didn't have a trial version of this Personal Antivirus.
Anyhow, turns out I had Adware infected on the comp; I downloaded a Norton 30 day trial and ran a scan which found four infections, one high risk and three low risk Adware infections.
I think, I hope, it has cleared up now, but I'll be trying Geordie's link tomorrow (on the laptop now).

| i've seen something like that this week as well,c anæt remember the name of it but it hijacked windows defender(vista) and kept throwing pop ups saying a there was 4\6 trojans or spyware and that virus shielf(i think) needed to be registered online.
This is on the father in laws laptop, and having been on vista for 2 years or so this stunk to high heaven but bugger me could i remember whether I had to register or whether i even had virus shield.
One of the more convincing nasty attacks thats bobbing about.

| My uncle had the same thing happen on his PC from a facebook virus. If you know when i first happened and you're running XP then look and have system restore enabled just rstore to a point before the infection and then install one of the various recomended packages and do a scan. There's no need to pay anyone to sort it out.
If you don't have system restore enabled jsut download an antivirus package, boot windows in safe mode install the package and then run it. it should remove the virus.

| theres one going round on facebook called Koobface. its like the one on msn messenger. it posts links to porn sites and such without you knowing about it and plays around with internet exsplorer opening loads of windows.
i had to do a total reboot to get rid. very anoying.
id say norton is by far the best security out there also its good to have spywear terminator.
also dont click any links that you have been sent on facebook even if there off trusted friends. ask them first and if thay dont know about it then dont click it.

Funnily enough, my desktop only started playing up after I clicked on one of those 'applications' on Facebook. Like most addictions, it's dangerous people.

| The things you are talking about there is a new nasty currently called Scareware that tells you to download this super new antivirus programme for free to remove.
You install and run and it finds the virus's / trojans but you need to pay to remove.
You pay and the fake virus / trojan messages go away but you never had them in the first place.
It is another trojan scaring you into buying fake software to remove a fake trojan if that makes sense.
I had one that actually beat me this week abd I had to re-build the machine from scratch as it was too deep routed. Doesn't happen very often.
Mr F your project is all done and boxed ready for collection you will be pleased to know

Be very careful if you attempt this, any data on the thing will be wiped so you must have backed up your docs and photos etc before you try this.
The factory restore disks that come with main stream pc's do just that, restore the machine to its default settings that it left the factory with - it's data.
Mr F found that out when his daughter found the restore button on his. Ooops
