| Quote: ratticusfinch "And I don’t get your continued defence of Powell. I think you’re either related to DP or Mrs O Holmes.
Who says DP needed to clear out???? him only! Smith came I and worked with what he had…as does every coach to start with rather than going full bull in a china shop! The clear out was Powells idea….on the ruddy hoof! No coach worth his salt would have seen so much change in one season….and he’s making an excuse out of his own making.'"
F@@king hell! How many times. I am not defending Powell in the last two games, I am defending the right of a coach to have enough time.
The only time I've mentioned Powell in recent posts is in comparison to other coaches mentioned.

| Quote: Barbed Wire "Why should we? There has been no direct address that a clear out was needed, other than from a man scrapping for his job. If there was an attitude change required, then maybe he should have gone about that in a better manner rather than taking the club to the brink.
His job, the bread and butter, is to prepare a team. The team are unprepared. 14 of 17 two weeks in a row at Powell’s men, and this is in July. We’re not at the ‘gelling’ phase, we’re at the ‘if you don’t start winning soon, you’ll be out of a job’ phase.'"
Yes, let's keep things the same cos we wos doing fab.

Get with it mate - this was referring to Tony Smith's season at Hull KR - you do realise he's been there most of this. season

Bring in a culture change progressively, ship out those not wanted and bring in the right new players as and when. You don't mickey off the senior playing squad to such an extent you drag a club down from consistent top four to relegation candidates.
Powell must go. Michael Maguire is out of a job, and Justin Holbrook could be about to be shown the door at Gold Coast. Both are proven Super League winning coaches.'"
Yep, we were doing fab. The players have been great over 6/7 years and we just needed a great coach.

He’s had enough time! I give up. I admire you sticking with Powell, I hope you’re right but I’m 99.7% certain this won’t end well. At a guess I’d think 70% of wire fans now realise he’s not the man for the job. I believe he’s already created a culture that will NEVER produce results. That may not be entirely his fault but it’s done.

It must be difficult to read with head in the sand, but let me be clear. Whatever he’s doing, it’s not working. The players that HE brought in, aren’t playing for him. This isn’t about the players who have been made a scapegoat of anymore. THREE players that haven’t been signed by Powell have played in the past 2 weeks.
The excuses have ran out. The ‘bad apples’ are gone. We’re 20 games in and are worse than where we were on week one.

Forgive me. i forget who mentioned it earlier in the thread.
BUT
you do know tony smith had secured the same amount of points we have now.
Also including challenge cup. tony smiths hull kr side won 9 matches. losing 11. so a win % of 45% this season.
thats still 10 points higher than daryl powell this season.

just as a comparison. the first 20 games after tony smith came in was 13 wins 65% win ratio with a Paul Cullen team.

Mock all you like, but for all of their faults, we were doing much better under Smith and Price than we are now.
This is fast becoming our worst season in 20 years based on league standings. 20 years of building the club up on field, off field and financially is being disrespectfully thrown away in less than twelve months by an coach out of his depth, and a CEO who is woefully inept and blind to the danger the club is in. Both need to be shown the door on Monday. Ideally sooner.

For the last time, I'm not defending him tonight, I'm defending a coach's right to have a fair crack.

Some of his selections suggest he has had a serious amount of crack.

I've never understood that attitude to the LLS it is the hardest trophy to win and always won by the best team in the league.

I get it you don't like Powell and I understand why you'd want him out. But I can't believe the ignorance on here with some comparing Powell's stats this season with other coaches whilst undergoing the largest player movement I think I've ever seen at any club. It actually lessons the argument for Powell out. Lack of progress though in key areas is fair game - I totally get it.

GW, you cannot persist in posting that "DP has a proven track record of............" and not expect comparisons then to be made by others, as track record and stats are the same thing.
This is certainly the largest player movement of any club in the SL era, but you have to question was it really necessary, given where it currently leaves us.
There's only 1 stat/track record that matters now, were 4 points off the bottom. I doubt the board being willing to give DP time should we look to be heading even more towards the championship, no matter what his track record at other clubs was, as that becomes irrelevant.
