| The bar is set for all coaches..but when you look at saints and wigan they've not lost there opening 3 games but some will say Watson is great..far from it...in fact some on here had hudds for top 3 or 4...

I think they missed Sezer in the first two, but I was disappointed with them last night. That squad is good enough to be up there and I'll admit to being one of those who thought they would be a good outside bet for the top 4. Still, we're only 3 games in so they could easily turn things around. How good were Salford at the start of the year they made the final?*
*Not a rhetorical question, I'm asking because I can't remember whether they had a late rally or were strong from day one.

Guess we'll see how Hudds go then. When they came back against KR they did look quality in patches.

| Huddersfield look dreadful.
Almost as dreadful as the SKY presenters. Jon Wells appears to have just woken up in a gutter after an eighteen hour bender, Wilkin is modelling the 1971 man at C&A look and Carney looks like he's got an interview as an estate agent.
I need a large port n lemon.

If I listen to Wells and his half time summary, that's exactly how I feel. The half time period of a Sky game is best used by a trip to the fridge, or watching half an episode of Pointless.

Don't tell me he'll be on the pitch at half time with a microphone, organising the green wire flyer bloke and a random person from the crowd.

| Beware for all those who say ... all we need is a new coach. Watson seemed to do so well at Salford. Powell seemed to be rated so highly at Cas.
Give him time.
Be careful ... you might be looking back on the glory days of Cullen, Smithy and Price ... what a team we had then.
Cup wins and always in the top five.
But we of course we want more.
But ... "You Can't always get what you Want" (Rolling Stones)
Move On
3 early season losses and it's Powell, Kear and John Wells Out, Out, Out.
I could line up the names now from this forum who will be there with the sharp knife.
Cheer up we'll easy beat Swinton Away next week.

I know the old saying of be careful of what you wish for, as it can take a large chunk out of your derriere. However, do you not think were in need of a change at the helm Smiffy, and if not, what would you change, if anything at all?

Good question and well put.
*Yes I would change the coach and several of the team. No doubt.
But I would not bang on about it on virtually every message I put on this forum.
I wouldn't be so critical and assume that it is easy to remove the relatively obvious failings we have.
I would have more sympathy for players, coaches and management. They love Wire, most on here seem to love Wire but some have a funny way of showing it.
I like the forum. I learn things from it. It makes me laugh.

| Smiffy makes a good point.
One of the biggest mistakes in sport is to assume "it can't get any worse". It can and plenty of clubs have the evidence to prove it.
I'm not so much worried about this point now we're appointing Powell, because he has a good record of improving three clubs. If someone repeats success in different environments its usually a good marker that they know what they are doing.
But you should always be wary of "the next big thing" upcoming coach who has one or two good seasons. In a few years time you may look back and wonder why you wanted them so much. I remember a few years back, we went through a stage where Paul Terzis was the man everyone wanted to be coach, then it was Justin Morgan for a while. That's why I wasn't keen on Watson. See how he goes at Huddersfield first.

| Suppose the irony is that it doesn't seem too long ago when there were posts along the lines of :
"What does Briers do as assistant, what value does Henderson add....??"
Until, now they're going it's all like back pats, and best wishes....
