| Quote: Monsieur Invisible "It's a step up from the HJ apart from when it rains with a breeze, then frankly, I wouldn't want to be stood anywhere near The Halo. It's a great original design idea and visually striking, but it in no way acts as a roof because it's elevated above the stands and with massive gaps and leaves large swathes of the terraces effectively open to the elements (there's no glass or perspex between them, nor can the design accomodate such a modification)..'"
That's because it isn't yet finished.
Not only are the interiors to be completed but finely perforated cladding is being fixed around the stadium between the wall and the roof. Air needs to pass through as the design means that wind resistence has to be limited. That will be completed by the start of the new season.
What you don't see either from the pictures is the fabulous landscaping on the other side, the side people will see from the Linkway. It's amazing and will look stunning once the trees have grown. (Either that or it will be filled with scrotes!)
PS: McManus Drive was named by the Council, not by Saints.

Mummy duck is now thoroughly depressed. SHE was the one that was famous for losing five in a row........until the 2011 GF!!!!!: |
|
| Looks very nice and TBH I would have been really disappointed if it didnt seem "better" than the HJ, after-all this is brand new, the HJ is nearly 8 years old. The real test will be when competitive rugby is played there and whether it can hold an atmosphere...............or whether enough saints fans actually go to generate one!

Is it liable to blow off in gusty winds and cause the game to be called off (again).

Saints have only taken the posts from Knowsley Road. They left the roof problems behind.
Actually, if the cladding wasn't perforated then the wind resistence could bring the whole structure down, not just blow the roof off.

50086_1357229109.jpg [b:33tg3xj5]Me:[/b:33tg3xj5] I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.
[b:33tg3xj5]knockersbumpMKII:[/b:33tg3xj5] Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_50086.jpg |

47600_1370068151.jpg The Autumn Wind is a pirate
Blustering in from sea,
With a rollocking song, he sweeps along,
Swaggering boisterously.
His face is weather beaten.
He wears a hooded sash,
With a silver hat about his head,
And a bristling black mustache.
He growls as he storms the country,
A villain big and bold.
And the trees all shake and quiver and quake,
As he robs them of their gold.
The Autumn Wind is a raider,
Pillaging just for fun.
He'll knock you 'round and upside down,
And laugh when he's conquered and won.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_47600.jpg |

When you guys left Wilderspool didn't your average go up.
When we was playing at KR our average was around 11K,I would imagine it will go higher, don't you.

There is a difference between the two.
When we were at Wilderspool we were poop and nearly got relegated one season and in another season there was talk of the Wire disappearing altogether becuase of bad debt and merging with Widnes.
Whereas when you were at KR you were winning trophies year on year which would have pulled the maximum crowds each week.
I do think your attendances will improve but not by the marked numbers that ours did.
You do have a fantastic looking stadium now, which is a credit to your club and RL.

Langtree is the name of the principle developer of the stadium & I guess this is what its refering to. Though there is an erea of Wigan that shares the name
