| Much improved performance. Why the negativity? Monaghan had his best game for a long time and Briers produced two great tries and stopped a HKR try with a superb cover tackle on Dobson.
Happy days.

Just bemuses me when we win the first half 16-0 and lose the second half 8-12, yet apparently Briers made a difference in attack.

It bemuses me how some people are never happy...Excellent performance all round i thought against an in form and well drilled Rovers side...
And i've been as negative as anyone lately i'll admit..

| Quote: Latchford Wolvesfan "Just bemuses me when we win the first half 16-0 and lose the second half 8-12, yet apparently Briers made a difference in attack.'" I think it was more around the structure of our attack that was better.
The first two tries were individual tries, and the third was a simple move out and a good effort from Johnson.
Once Briers came on, the pass selection improved, the width of the team improved, and the attacking kicks improved.
We did however continue to give too many penalties and allow KR to have lots of the ball. We had much of the ball in our own half.
I see no reason why Monas and Briers can't play together, with Monas controlling the early tackles and play close to the ruck, and Briers commanding the more expansive stuff. They are both different enough to be able to work together, yet Monas seems to struggle with the role more than Briers, so I'm not necessarily sure who is the bigger issue, howveer I have faith in Smith to sort that one.

Briers did make a difference in attack...........2 pin point kicks .....2 tries.
If you hadn't noticed there was a stiff breeze blowing down that field today and attacking towards the West Stand was hard work....it needed something a little different (special) to unlock the defence (something an excellent player like Dobson couldn't do against our boys!)

i actually thought the build up for the first two tries was very nrl esque.

| We won - enjoy it and stop, for once, pulling individual players apart.
Good team effort and good crowd response.
I have a bruised finger from over-enthusuastic clapping!

| Perhaps this is the future. Dont have them on the pitch at the same time to "cancel each other out."

It probably gives a defence more to think about at different times. I bet teams settle into patterns and introducing another point of attack would disrupt that. If we did have a third point of attack as efficient as the other two we'd be laughing

| Rather than just give the credit to Tony Smith what about acknowledging Cullen's part in giving the captaincy to Morley to allow Briers to focus more on his own game

maybe we're setting a new trend here like millward and the impact DH, the impact halfback off the bench.
And yes Sally, i know bradford did this ages ago with the paul brothers and paul deacon.
