| Watched it on Sky + as soon as I got home from the abizmal second half performance we dished out. WOW ! What a top game. Shows how games can change. One minute you could have been 24-0 up and then you concede, leading it to 22-18 at HT. Thought there were some very impressive performances for both teams. Thought Myler was one of the stand out performances, along with the likes of Mozza and Atkins. Some real quality tries too. Think Wire have the calibre to go all the way here !

If you think the ball that went behind hodgsons legs was forward then I suggest you watch more RL or learn the laws and nothing wrong with Hodgson one either, Meli chose to go for Bridge, wrong decision made. Didn't even stop him making a tackle anyway, as Hodgson broke his attempt.'"
You wanted to make it about ref,s I said I was more than happy to ignore our bad calls.
Just because you drop the ball, does not mean if you step past the incident it's not a knock on. To use your phrase yo need to watch more geography to see where a ball is touched and where it ends up in relation to the floor.
If stepping past the incident is all it takes to convince you it's not a knock on fair enough.
Meli was ran straight into. May I refer you to the Lomax score against Bradford 3 weeks ago, the bradford player runs into the back of the Saints man who was stood in the Bradford defensive line, he still gets past the saints player and makes an ineffective tackle on lomax. TRy disallowed.
Meli was knocked over, if you think he had control of his body at any point after that, your are just wearing primrose and blue shades.
But good way to interupt a thread about the game. Lets not discuss the game lets discuss poor refing.
Shall we start on high shots next???
Or do you want to get back to the game.

| I'm not sure on the 'knock on' try, but Meli was obstructed for sure. He did recover to make an attempt to tackle the Wire player however he'd been knocked off balance and there for was unable to put in the effective tackle he would have done had he not been run into.
Then again Ian Smith has a history of this doesn't he? Didn't he give a bizarre one for Roby last season against Crusaders?

The first frame, the ball goes backwards and doesn't deviate at all. Meli wasn't knocked over, kept his feet. Let's agree to disagree.

| Superb game - we weren't at our best but still won the game - excellent stuff. We kept ourselves in the game in the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half then blew Saints away. Can't believe we had that much left in the tank after that first half and then only having 2 interchanges for most of the 2nd half.
We did what they have been doing to us for years - showed no mercy.
Credit to the Saints fans - stayed to the end and kept singing - just shows how big a performance Saints put in (but still lost )

They had it down as an away game...so went to Widnes.

I didn't even know the rule with that. Every day is a school day.

| how are you talking about forward passes most passes by saints were very very flat to say the least. couldn't see the screen but i think ian smith will know more about the rules of rugby league than a saints fan trying to make an excuse for his team lost.
the were high shots by both teams so thats equal, although in the stand it didn't seem like it was an equal penalty count but silverwood probz trying to equal it out but then theres no reason there. face it was a good game what you lost no excuses and could of gone either way.

| Saints coach quoted as saying that "every 50 50 decision went against Saints". Not only wrong but classless.
Wouldn't find TS being so graceless after a defeat.

That's one thing that I always find amazing at the HJ is when "away" fans are so sure what they saw was right when
a) the video screen is at an angle at the other end of the ground making visability poorand
b) have the things being complained about is stuff happening in relation to the width of the park
(YEP, Im sure that Wolves fans are just as bad when we cant see the screen properly).
Silverwood had his usual inconsistent stinker of a performance and it affect BOTH sides.
Thankfully the overall quality of rugby league and the atmosphere (who said the HJ doesnt have one!) completely overshadowed it

| Listen, If I was a Saints fan I'd be pretty chuffed with last night, they got beat by 7 points that's pretty good. It's just like an unseeded player taking Nadal or Murray to 4/5 sets y'know. Take your sympathy round of applause, go & tell yourself that you're dead, dead close from mixing it with the big boys but then go and order a pint of reality and give your head a shake.
Great game though, I just really hope Saints manage to sneak into the top eight, be good for the play offs, they play nice rugby and I reckon they'd beat Cas, Hull etc.

| A big momentum change was after Saints first try and on the next set they throw the ball ten yards behind the first receiver yet end up with a new six after the ball deflects off Bridge.
Look at it again; Wilkin rather than picking the ball up scoops it forward into the air so he can grab it and it hits Bridge before Wilkin can re-gather. The correct decision is Warrington head and ball as Wilkin has knocked the ball forward into Bridge.
Silverwood gave Saints new six and they score off that possession rather than Warrington having a set of six on Saints' 20 and the opportunity to re-assert their 18 point lead immediately.
I also see that Simmons is moaning about the ref again in his post match interview; its becoming a habit Royce. Not a good habit. At least this time he didn't moan about not getting any off-side decisions - I wonder why?

| Having read all nine pages, my input;
Firstly, how great it feels to be there to see Saints squirm. I have waited a very long time to see that and I ave never seen Wire get the double over sts. Pheww what a night.
Secondly, it was also a great match. A lot of back and forth and was probably, in tersm of emotion and atmosphere, the greatest match I have veer been to.
In terms of refereeing decision on both video referee calls for Warrington (strange how silverspud was so confident of sts tries (Roby knock on)) I initially thought I was seeing a no try. I don't know whether that was pessimism. However, after a few viewings I was confident both would be given. Brett's no knock on for a couple of shots looked 50/50 but when slowed down was as clear as day going backwards (and not being stepped over) Also the Meli fumble; sorry he went for Bridge and chose wrong. He even has the time to grab Brett while he is crossing the line. He could have easily had a go at knocking the ball out of his hands. So that covers Smith. Silverwood had a shocker. HE missed a lot and the amount of lying on he allowed was comical. I would really not like it if he refs these two teams again. AS a final note on refereeing performance, does Meli know what onside means? Cause he was never there.
Paul I also thought that when I saw it at the match. In fact there were a lot of refereeing mistakes that led to Saints tries. I think I counted three which shouldn't have been given (2 in the first and the knock on in the 2nd)
Overall I am glad we cam away with a win especially after such a dire 20 mins against the 14 men of saints. But to be fair we deserved a reality check for not completing sets in the second quarter. Some of the mistakes were just shocking from WArrington. Luckily we have the team and probably (I am assuming he had some choice words for them) the coach to beat anyone and be the real deal.
ISWT and congratulations Wire fans. Too many years of hurt gone!
