Quote: Winslade's Offload "Why would you want to give away a decent player for one of lower quality ? And if you asked for some cash alongside, it is similar to selling him. So the two players exchanged need to be of similar value (unless you get a two for 1). If Crosby is coming over, then Wayne is getting somebody he wants - one of our better players. Atkins is getting on, he will be 31 this month, so an exchange with Crosby could make sense. Particularly if you need to make room at centre for an import plus the emerging Toby King. Rhys Evans can play wing or centre.'"

Why would you want to give away a decent player for one of a lower quality?

Well, that's what we'd be doing if we were to move Ryan Atkins on, whether it be part of a deal for Dom Crosby or not.

Regardless of his age, Atkins has been in his best form for many a year this season and the best centre in the league. Why shift him on when he's still under contract, in fine form and the players we have to replace him are inferior?

Just because we're supposed to be in for Crosby why is it presumed that Wane is getting one of our players in return? He could have a replacement lined up from elsewhere for all we know. Wayne after all is the same bloke who was happy for Jack Hughes to leave Wigan and sign for us. What did he get out of that deal exactly?

Makes no sense at all to me to be honest.

We would want Dom Crosby for what, tackling practice instead of the pads now in use? If Atkins goes anywhere my understanding (right or wrong) is a Yorkshire based club!

You asked if I was 'just throwing names around'. I gave you my line of reasoning as to why it could be a player swap - because you don't strengthen the opposition if you can help it, by allowing your good players to move across. I think Jack Hughes was on loan to Hudds. and was OOC when we picked him up - essentially he was surplus to requirements as far as Wigan were concerned, otherwise they would have re-newed his contract. Crosby is currently playing for Wigan and will probably be playing against us on Saturday, so they are quite different circumstances. I would agree Atkins has been in excellent form this year, but his contract will be up at the end of 2017. At that point, Atkins has no 'value' left - he can not be sold or swapped. If TS believes he has other options at centre but needs to fill the gap at Prop (Dodds, Evans, Bailey, Cox all going from what we hear), then this could make sense.

I don't think he can. Not right now. He's a centre through and through.

I would agree, I think he is a centre. What I was suggesting was that he could be used to cover for both wing and centre when the inevitable injuries start.

He should only be cover in my opinion, he's just not good enough going forward and just as likely to make a defensive howler as a good defensive read. Toby King is already better.

Rhys Evans is not "a centre through and through". He does not possess the attacking qualities.

As opposed to a winger.

I do share your disappointment with him attacking wise. He's lost the spark he when he first made the first team.

It's odd. Rhys Evans is renowned by some for his defence yet he has the 3rd highest mis-tackles in the squad. 46/375 (12.2%). Ryan Atkins is 27/413 (6.5%) on the other side.

So I see a centre with 6 tries and 4 assists and a lot of mis-tackles. We can improve on that position.

We have bigger things on our minds. I must confess I don't know anything about him, can't blame him for moving over, better chance of first team action and therefor development. I wish him well, and I also wish Leigh well next season I'm looking forward to seeing how you get on.
