| Quote: K-Diddy "I'd say Tom Briscoe & Ellis definately. And at a push if there form continues possibly Crooks, Lineham & Houghton but probably a year to soon for the 1st 2.
Why do you ask?'"
I ask because that's the indicator which concludes the quality of your squad. As Morleys deckchair points out your season didn't exactly get off to a flyer albeit due to some injuries. No doubt hull were the best team but don't get carried away.
For me the England squad would include 3 players if picked tomoz. Westwood, hill and myler
Thoughts on that

I don't think Westwood is in their on current form for mine, not starting anyway. Hill on the bench I reckon. If the World Cup was tomorrow I think I would have Myler in there, but again not too sure. At risk of sending this thread off on a tangent there are lots of selection headaches for Mcnamara and it will be interesting to see what he goes with at the HJ in a few weeks time!

Fair enough I agree about not getting carried away but no doubt some will.
I also agree with Hill & Myler playing in World Cup, can't really comment on Westwood as I'm not too sure how hes been playing this season, havent heard as much about him as you normally do.

| Quote: Ganson's Optician "Sport is such a fickle beast. Not so long ago Hull supporters were turning up at players houses giving them abuse, writing off the season and calling for Gentle's head. They beat Warrington and I have heard Hull fans talking about them winning the double. Warrington lose last night and there are pages of doom and gloom. Last August a bloke sat not far from us went and gave Riley a load of abuse at the Stoop. I am sure he had no qualms at Wembley a week later! You can't win em all, and it is a long season.
Very few clubs can peak for an entire season in any sport.'"
christ im in agreement with you on this.....and just for the record our season starts proper when huddersfield come here in cup and also in september when play offs start..so last night dont really matter

Not rubbish at all, Warrington are an aging, average side, too many players dont have the heart for a battle any more.
Not including the guys that both teams had missing how many of these can you argue with?
McDonnel > Ratchford
Lineham > Riley
Crooks > Grix (Grix is a better backrower but wouldnt make the Hull side there either.
Atkins > Yeaman
Briscoe > Monaghan
Holdsworth > Briers (Close one but Briers time at the top is running out fast)
Horne > Myler (On this seasons form Horne is back to the player of 7/8 years ago)
O'Meley > Wood
Houghton > Higham
Hill > Green
Ellis > Waterhouse
Westwood > Whiting
Pitts > Cooper
Heremaia > Monaghan (Whats happened to him lately, never noticed him last night)
Lynch > Carvell
Bowden > Currie
Johnson > Riley'"
wow ........thats just one big wow..........so many ridiculous Hull player better than Wire player comparisons ....
Briscoe better than joel Monaghan !!! monas has scored more than a try a game since hes' been here.... i would wager Briscoe is faster but weve been here with many Kevin penny debates.......
Lynch better than Carvell....houghton (who I do rate btw) better than Higham.....higham as been incredible this season..........youve got me right in the mood for the similarly biased eurovision song contest voting tonight.......russia giving Ukrane and Belarus top marks and all that..... deary me youve a right to be excited about your team but thats just too giddy ...... anyway holland are up next......

westwoods form this season has dipped your right part of this is I believe due to his attentions being heavily focused on his off field testamonial events. However I still think mcnamara picks reputation above form. He's picked stood by big names in the past when form has dipped. I wouldn't read too much into the England squad for the exiles game as think he will be using that for giving some fringe players a run. Also can't see him not picking Benny for that when its at the wire.

Don't worry mate from the look of some of our own fans posts your not the only ones getting carried away. We are all doomed according to some. Good luck for rest of the season. Hope u keep Ellis fit and look forward to swing crooks and lineham development.

| Quote: Mr. Zucchini Head "Hull are a better side than Warrington, this will be proved as the season goes on. When I look down the team sheets last night there are very few Warrington players that would get a game for Hull.
Atkins, Westwood and Hill would be the only ones to come straight in the 13 and I would maybe find Ratchford a bench spot. But none of those guys would improve us significantly.'"
It's easy to indulge in a bit of chest beating parochialism when you've just produced your best performance of the season, but the same players you are lauding had Hull in a right mess a few weeks back.
You might also like to reflect that on the fact that Wires players whose abilities and attitudes you are comparing unfavourably have got the medals tucked away at home, whereas all the Hull players (and club) have delivered in the same era has been promise, inconsistency and ultimately, failure.

Wow. I can only assume the above is a fishing exercise? By reading this you would have thought it was hull that, in the last 4 seasons had; won 3 challenge cups, won a league leaders Shield and appeared in a grand final.

You make a fair point. Mr. Zucchini Head seems to have let himself get more than a little carried away. Warrington are a great side who we have beat very rarely in recent years. One match doesn't set a precedent.
I do feel Hull FC are building to something though and like I said a few post ago, we have historically competed with the best of them including only as far back as 2006/2005 when we had a great side. Many Hull fans, myself included feels that Pearson, Gentle and McRae maybe on the verge of bringing that back.

| First of all yes I probably did get a little over excited, not just in beating you but in the general positivity around the club right now. However I will stand by some of what I said. Warrington, over the last few years have been great to watch, not only for their style of rugby but for the fact that they have broken the big 4 as we did 7/8 season ago. However, the squad has got old together and I think Tony Smith has made a mistake not recruiting much over the last year or two. Briers, Higham, Morley, Hodgson, M Monaghan etc. They have been the heartbeat of your side but their days are now severley numbered. Someone mentioned the Houghton > Higham claim. If you offered Higham as a swap for Houghton I would laugh you out of there (tbf you guys would do the same with one of my other comparisons, Horne and Myler).
On the whole I do believe Hull have the better squad, of course it remains to be seen whether we will prove it, but imo Hull are going in the right direction and Warrington are not.
