this idea of being bitter is in your own head i for one am not bitter in the slightest i couldn't give two hoots now our team are out i quite think it may have done us a favour i will enjoy the game as i will be there collecting for charity as it goes, but i certainley wouldn't call it the "biggest derby" in rugby league

| Quote: Tin Soldier "Back on track.
There's an arguement for games like this to be played at bigger stadiums and therefore getting larger attendances. As tickets are normally only available to season ticket holders first, they cannot sit with non ST holders who can only buy at a later date and thus some just don't bother going at all. Maybe we should prove or disprove this theory next year by using a 25k ish stadium (If the occasion warrants it). We could also 'test the water' soon with Saints' new ground having an 18K capacity.'"
At last! Someone else who wants to discuss the actuall issue!
Do you think the number would be that high and make that much of a difference? St holders usually only get 48 hours to purchase tickets and there has never been an issue with tickets not being available after that time. Its purely down to fans speculation and perception about ticket sales, we had a similar "scare" this season when saints tickets went on sale and peoiple thought they'd be sold out after the first couple of days, which simply didnt happen.

Fair enough if that's your opinion but what is the biggest derby in rugby league then? Perhaps I should have defined it as the biggest 'local' derby in rugby league.

I'm just not sure but the option for non ST holders to purchase tickets and to be sat with ST holders might make a big difference. And then what could be described as an improvement? 16k in a 25k stadium? 20k in a 25k stadium? Remembering back, we've had SF's at Maine road!! I just kinda think that aiming low may not be the best policy.

23997_1287161421.jpg
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_23997.jpg |

Mummy duck is now thoroughly depressed. SHE was the one that was famous for losing five in a row........until the 2011 GF!!!!!: |
|
| As of this afternoon about 400-500 tickets were still available. 12500 tickets sold in a 13000 capacity ground = a good turn out..................12500 tickets sold in a 25000 capacity ground would be plain stupid. Playing the game at a bigger ground would not have increased the attendance but would have simply dampened the atmosphere. Come along and enjoy the game and let the best side win.

Do people not believe that playing such an important match at a ground like ours takes something away from the occasion? Same with Widnes being a semi final venue.
I would say it's 99% certain that if this match was held at the Reebok, then there would be more than 13,000 there. But you're right that the atmosphere might not be the same.
P.S. Hull FC v KR is the biggest derby in the world of rugby, either code.

| last time wigan v saints met in a cc semi was at old trafford in 1990.
