Essentially, they get a 'Barmy Army' chant going and don't stop until England claim a wicket. We had a Barm Army chant going on sunday and scored two tries. Good enough in my book.

Everyone to their own, I go to enjoy a good sing song you always seem to remeber games with good atmospheres more, well I do!
The players certainly respond to a vocal / noisy crowd. Scored 2 tries and lifted at the point the ground was rocking on Sunday.'"
exactly the game the always sticks with me is Wigan v Wire at piedome
we sang Van Der Veldes barmy army from start to finish (did you do the drum banging that day?) we only stopped briefly when the fights broke out.
The way we sang was great, two tiers of voices it reminded me of Zula "front row fire, 2nd row fire"
best atmosphere bar none that game.

Because people are too reliant on them now. Back then, they were an additon to the atmosphere. You really can have too much of a good thing.

| Personally i think the drums will be missed, sometimes that stadium is as dead as dodo WITH the drums. I think those who are expecting the place rocking all the time are stuck back in the fletcher end. Wembley is a shocker of an example, i mean how can people possibly try and used that as an arguement against the drums. A Wet and cold sunday in early february is not the same as 30,00 people going to wembley for the first time in two decades.
The accoustics are completely different now and the sound does not amplify like it used to. If you stand at one end of the state of the art purpose built corned beef tin you cant hear anything from the other side. The place doesnt bounce like people are expecting it to unless we are 20 points ahead of leeds with 5 minutes to go. G has done his best, a valiant effort but is not a god. Anyone expecting an improvement in atmosphere however is kidding themselves.

Just trying to make a point G. I quite enjoy joining in from my perch in the East, but people enjoy a game in their own way and don't need 'Hicksy' telling them how to support the team. I would guess there's a fair few of us have been doing it since before he was born!
I did all the jumping around and singing stuff 20 years ago, now I'm more into a sedate cheering, clapping and advising the referee of his mistakes!
