| Regarding Luther burrell I heard them say on sky that he's 31 (I thought he 26 / 27)so by the time he picks up the finer points of centre play let's say after next season he will be 32.it doesn't give us much time to reap any rewards from this signing... Very poor if you ask me..and how much as it cost us...

There's no need really as we are quite capable of keeping an eye on our board, including visitors most of whom are welcome

| Who was expecting a win against Saints? Not me. Who was hoping we got a performance that would give some encouragement for the rest of the season? I for one, did.
My expectations were met, thought our very depleted team with a pair of halfbacks on debut played with spirit, effort and gave 100%. Positives:
Riley Dean - had the confidence to step and beat a defender (please keep doing that!) and will learn lots from the experience. More game time for him, please Mr Price.
Stef Ratchford - MOM by a country mile, our most creative player. Great to see him back into the groove in a short space of time.
Harvey Livett - Rolled the sleeves up and got through a lot of carries. Pity nothing came off when he tried to off load. You have to make your own luck in this game at times, so keep trying, as I for one don't want 5 drives and a kick.
Lama Tasi - best game in P&B, more effective than Akauola.
Josh Thewlis - Solid game, held his own, great to see him on the score sheet.
There's still an opportunity to win the CC and GF , as far fetched as it may feel, presently.
Negatives:
Matty Smith - Just looked unfit, didn't cause Saints any problems.
BMM - Is his ankle goosed? Everytime he makes a carry, he spends too long clutching his ankle after it. Another one not fit.
Currie and Walker - Injured in the opening 20 minutes, which didn't help our cause on the night, and may not be fit for some games to come.
Westwood and Hill - Discipline.

Completely agree with 95% of this, i didn't expect a win at all and just watched the match to enjoy it and see new faces and to see some youngsters blooded. I really enjoyed the game.
Only thing i disagree with is Matty smith, i don't think he looks unfit and for a guy coming in to a brand new team on only 1 training session with us did more then Patton has done for us so far. Another game then a rest as he can't play in the challenge cup, then him and Austin will be far more effective than Austin/Patton.

Said all saints needed to do in that second half was keep attacking him'"
Having seen both of Luther's games so far, I don't think he's going to cut it. Early days obviously but you can just tell sometimes. For all his errors, I saw enough in Riley Dean's performance to know that he will be very good. But Luther just looks like he's trying to get through without making an error, rather than being brave and proactive and trying to make an impact. The few times I thought he had done something good, it turned out to be Lama Tasi! I really hope Luther proves me wrong but time isn't on his side.

Unfortunately I am of this opinion, watching the game live he looked sluggish & abit out of his depth at times even up against relatively young & inexperienced saints player in Costello. If we was up against Percival he would of had his work cut out I feel. I’m sure time will tell and I really hope he does prove me wrong but on first showing I wasn’t overly impressed.
He definitely needs to come in looking for work too, Goodwin & even Thewlis took the ball away on our own try line which was rather brave from a 17 year old. By all means, I’m not writing him off after a couple of appearances he obviously needs a put in a lot of time and effort if he wants to make this transition a successful one.

Yeah i think he's to big for a league centre as he can't change direction very quickly and got stepped and ran around quite easily. I would say Second row would be a better position........but having seen him properly now i knew he was a big guy but christ he's massive. He wouldn't be out of place at Prop either. End of the match on Sky he was stood talking to Luke Thompson and was physically bigger than him. Second row or Prop for me. First full game for us though and with a full pre-season behind him and maybe a few more games he could be a completely different Animal

I’m hopeful with a full preseason another couple of games here & there this season we will see a different animal next year. Tbh he does look abit to big, rangy (and clumsy) to be a centre in SL but I suppose time will tell, he might be more suited at second row but he will definitely need to improve his fitness. Like many have spotted on here he was blowing hard after 20 mins and struggled to keep the full 10 on occasions, fingers crossed it’s an experiment that comes off!

| I remember watching the first few games of Tuigamala at Wigan and thinking what an unfit pudding they'd signed. Hope Luther turns out half as 'bad'.

| Too early to write Burrell off yet, that said he does have a lot of work to do. Agree with the second row comments and maybe even prop.

| It does seem ridiculously early to be passing judgement on Burrell, but he certainly hasn't impressed me so far.
In contrast both Thewliss and Dean (despite his errors), looked really promising. With Thewliss, its not so much his talent but more his determination and effort. Plus he is used to captaincy and hence responsibility. Dean in contrast can look silky smooth in his movement and ball handling, but atm needs the time and space to work his plays. I am sure once he gets used to the speed and lack of space at SL level he can be really good.

| When opportunity arises, play Luther on the wing as to allow him time to focus on positional areas.
