| The Wire today were ambling about like Union players for the first 60 minutes with cross field passing being the best efforts at being adventurous. Where is our flair ? Cas had flair & determination in spadefulls & Liam Watts even managed a sidestep through our defence. The last 20 minutes was a bit too late to buck our ideas up & pretend we were a good team after all.
Let's hope ,if Powell does come ,he brings some of his players with him.

| Trueman would be fantastic, his last tackle plays asked questions of the defence and caused us a lot of problems.

| I watched some excellent games over the weekend on Sky, Price ensured that the Warrington game was not one of them. For all that is holy get him out this week.

| As previously stated you know there are problems somewhere at the club when you leave out one of the best hookers in the world + cert one of the fastest wingers in SL.He should at least come have the decency to explain this to us fans rather than let rumours spread as that is probably the most baffling team decisions I’ve known at this club since I’ve been a fan and that’s 45 years.

Trueman will be following Powell to the HJ. Thank god, cos he was MOM by a mile today, despite sky giving it to mcshane. Austin gone, and Trueman in. I'm looking forward to next season already and we're only 1 game into this one!!

| Quote: Philth "Lineham has no rugby brain I'm afraid. Look at the other wingers this weekend. Charnley misjudged some ball bounces and had a poor game but Lineham with ball in hand makes me nervous every week. Hughes was poor today, too busy complaining to the ref rather than playing to the whistle on one play and dreadful momentum stopping runs.'"
At least lineham tries and he does much more than Charnley does. I completely agree about Hughes, kept crying to the ref instead of playing until the whistle. I don't really get why he's the captain, decent defensively and little to no attack at all with no improvement in the years he's been here.
The bench was poor and why D.Clark on the bench? Is he coming back from and injury or are the rumours he's leaving true and we're just trying to give Walker more game time to prepare for next year?
More crap decisions by price and either our assistants have no input at all or they don't see a problem either.

| My biggest concern for Wire was the form of Blake Austin. He has to be injured and that big wad of bandage suggests he is. We need to get Riley Dean back at once. Blake is not a natural handling half-back and he struggled v Cas. Of course, others played badly but we cannot afford to have one of our half-backs so ineffective.

| Blake Austin did not look fit, I thought they might take him off and move Ratchford up and get Ashton off the bench. Blake is a running threat, if he can’t run freely there is no threat.

That might be the case, but his hands were pretty poor yesterday

Agreed and their is no excuse whatsoever for playing unfit players in game 1. We had options within the matchday 17 and he was totally ineffective, though to be fair he was the only one supporting Currie's break at the end.

Yes but castleford earned the right to play expansive rugby by doing the basics right. We cannot do that at the moment how fan we expect to play the expansive rugby we fans crave. Yes its coaching and tactics that are an issue but the players are the ones on the pitch they are the ones making mistakes dropping balls and o the other hand they are the ones on the pitch they gave the choice also to just play rugby rather than one up.
I dont get the feeling price is an unpleasant guy or that he will be causing major problems in the dressing room either, or that he is not trying. I hoped the players would respond to him departing positively however on first showing they are not looking like a side wanting to send their coach off with a grand final win under his belt.

He only had a dead leg. I know that for a fact.

Well Doctor Rubber. I've not had a dead leg for a while ... but I do remember they could slow you down a bit.
Perhaps he just had a big bandage to show off his tan. He must have started with some form of injury. He, the medics & Price must have made the decision he was OK but he didn't play as if he was 100%. Maybe got a smack on it during game.

Agreed.
I'm also fairly sure he must have some decent ideas about what he wants to see and how he wants us to play, but it worried me very early on in his tenure when - after we'd played badly - he continually said 'we know what's wrong and we know how to fix it' but then the next wek we saw the same thing.
Unlike some I didnt have a problem with Walker starting on Sunday and Id have preferred Mamo starting at centre, but obviously Wrench had been going well in training and SP thought he was up to the job (and I'm sure in the back of his mind were the calls for him to blood more youngsters).
Similarly I'd have had JClark starting ahead of Joe.
So for me, team selection isn't the real problem.
And if you look at the playing roster, I'd argue our first 17 playing at their best are more than a match for any other team in the comp., but the point is that they have to be playing at their best, and they have to have the right tactics.
Neither was on show last week.
