| But your academy beat Wigan 30 - 20 at Orrell, and won well.
A great day out for us real rugby fans.
Four games watched today, Cronula v St. George, Wire v Wigan reserves, Wigan v Wire academy and Celtic v Catalan.

I don't recall seeing a side dominate a match as much as that one.
As daft as it sounds, I was quite happy with the reserves result, even moreso when we appeared to be picking up injuries, constantly through the game. I did like the look of the number 12, was it Farrell? Good strength and pace.
I take it you went to the Academy game? Did you notice a tall white-blonde lad, probably played fullback or wing. He is mustard, definitely one to watch.

The full back was it Rhys Evans? blond haired lad. He looked really good attacking wise, beat the first man every time.
Also your scrum half Gareth O'Brien kicked Wigan to death. Three of your tries came from his kicks.
It's always difficult to judge the U18's as you never know the age span, and particularly as I know Wigan were so short of players through injury that they had to promote a few of the U18's to reserve level today.
One of the reserve substitutes (he had to play 60 minutes because of injuries) was the reserve team physio. It was hilarious watching Phil Vievers shouting him on.

I doubt it, he's only 16!
He's becoming the new Leatherbarrow...

| He's a cracking player. Last year tried his hand at centre and stand off. But we should be patient, as i say, last year he was playing Under 15 rugby, while in reserves he could be playing first teamers coming back from injury etc.

Yep, Rhys Evans. He is one of two brothers (the other being Ben) who relocated from South Wales to sign for us.

| Reserves- Wigan were the better team on the day, but the wire lads never gave up, thought the forwards were tireless in particualr McCarthy & Coops, they looked knackered when they came off. The no's 7 (Harvey?) didn't half get knocked about by their no 12 though, Good Effort from the team though

I think Warrington's Academy had 5 or 6 u16's playing today. You'll soon have to stop "mocking" Warrington's youth policy with results like this.
Rhys Evans certainly does look a good prospect. Once he's left school I would imagine he'll be training full time with the first team.
I wonder how "Brett Kenny" on your forum would explain Warrington being able to recruit such talents from South Wales in front of rugby union in the days of the salary cap?
As for Wigan being short of players in the reserve game? I think Warrington had about 10 fit players by the end of the game.

Paul, I wasn't using that as an excuse for the defeat.
I've just looked at the team sheet and it looks as though 15 of the 17 in the Wigan side are "first year".
Have a look here for the teams rlhttp://forums.rlfans.com/viewtopic.php?t
You will know much better than I the ages of the Warrington lads. The Warrington winger Chris Flemming is a friend of ours. He and all his family are Wigan season ticket holders. It was funny to see them cheering for Wire academy yesterday.

Hate to break it to you pal. but there was quite a few players who weren't first years for wigan on show. logan tomkins, mathew sarsfield, liam thompson, jack hughes, the tall number 10, and prop that came of the bench were all older than 16?
