| Not a massive shock, saw an interview where he basically admitted he was going to a new sport, or that’s how I interpreted it.

| Another one gets away from Rugby league. Wane is a great developer of talent and also a very good coach. I think he should have a more central job that involves player development and/or England coach.

| I don't know if it's my age but I've softened on SW a lot in the last year, and his loss - [ianother[/i loss to RU is both sad and alarming.
Losing knowledgeable coaches to RU, or knowledgeable players pursuing a RU coaching career, is far more damaging to the game than losing players. They'll improve the product and RL will slip further back towards oblivion.
They rarely come back, and you seldom hear of RU coaches coming to league to learn new skills or try something new. Why? Money? Partly. I'm sure SW could have got a gig in Aus if we wanted a new RL challenge so i suspect the move to RU is for a number of reasons, but it's still bad news.

| Dennis Betts and Daryl Powell had spells in Union and returned.
Money is usually the key factor ... as most League lovers think Union is a bit naff. The words "Fresh Challenge" is often used but not many (no one!) would seek that challenge if the money was less.

He's a guilty pleasure. We tribal hate him but we know he'd do us right.

| Can't stand the oaf, personally, with his pooh-house tactics inherited from Fadge, but I'm in agreement with miaw. He will be a loss to our code. The development of youth at his disposal has been superb, and let's not forget, HE KNOWS HOW TO WIN.
A sad day

| I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him as the next England RL coach after Bennett has finished his coaching tenure.

I’d like to think something like that happens.

Harsh, OE, harsh.
Maybe confiscation of all pies, and indeed bananas.

He deserves another chance at another SL club. In the spells at Hull, Wakefield, Warrington, France he was just unlucky.
