| I touched on it on another thread.
We played one man rugby.
Smith change of tactics for weather.
With that tactic a super kicking game is required.
Therein lies the problem.

Takes time to gel.

| I mentioned this in another thread - players aren't even attempting to get the ball free, so seem to be playing to instructions, and this has been noticeable in every game.
For me, it betrays a lack of confidence in yourself and your teammates. It also makes breaking defences down and generating momentum all the more difficult because the opposition invariably has a fully-set defensive line.
We've gone from being the great entertainers to being Bradford Northern circa 1976.

Agree, from what games I have seen this season it appears TS has changed tactics from moving the ball from side to side to going down the middle and hoping to be able have options to move the ball either side. Not happening so far as the ball is broght back into midfield when it should be going wide.

Good call. The conditions on Thursday were hardly ideal for an offloading game, but a kicking game is essential and we came up short in this respect.

| Not just wire, but all SL clubs... squeezing the ball 5 yards out of the back of a tackle so an unsuspecting team mate can be clattered a few yards further from the try line is neither big, clever or an offload.
Quite happy that we're attempting to tighten up in conditions like thursday... especially this early in the season.

| Not me.
When it was apparent that this deploy wasn't working. I'd have been happier to see them throw caution to the wind for the last quarter.
Going down fighting, throwing the ball out the back like a hot potato.
At the very least, it would have been easier on the eye.
To see them have a go and fumble trying, is for me, better then watching one man rugby with full knowledge that the kicking game we had already employed until that time stunk.

| I remember the same thread a few times over the last 5 or 6 years at the start of the season, its simple. Bed your selves into the new season without making stupid mistakes and gifting the ball to the opponents with every other off load. Sounds sensible to me.

| But we haven't done it all season, or certainly not to the extent we used to! I agree on Thursday it would have been suicide especially on the back of an abject kicking game but we've not done it even in decent conditions.
On the other hand, Catalan (in abysmal conditions I hasten to add) on Saturday looked like the harlem globetrotters and were brilliant to watch as a result.

This "not a wet weather team" is just a poor excuse that is trotted out whenever we have a bad game and the weather can be blamed.
The reason we lost on Thursday night was because our attack was absolute pap. It was just unfortunate that it was raining at the same time.
Leeds never had a problem turning over St Helens every time it was throwing it down at Old Trafford.

| Our attack was so bad on Thursday, I had no confidence any time we were close to their line, the kicking was atrocious and embarrassing at times.
I don't like the 'wet weather' excuse as the players should be able to play in any conditions!

Wouldnt the wet weather suited leeds, more than saints? Just some rumour i heard that they used to play entertaining rugby apparently, but who knows?
