| It is also interesting to note that other than Lee Briers (4th in the table), our highest scorer was Rob Smythe who was 30th!!

| haha. i note the bradford result at home. although not a laughing matter after i'd paid my hard earned to watch that performance, the rumours of a BBQ at Nikau's the night before the game makes me laugh now. Is it true warrington players were spotted tackling wheelie bins on the way home about 6am on the morning of the match??

| I know it's not 2001 but many years ago as a young lad I was a wigan fan (live in newton mates mostly wigan fans etc) anyway having noone to go with my uncle saw an opportunity to convert me to wire and took me to a game at knowsley road. You were beaten 66-16 and he failed in his attempts to make me a wire. That site has reminded me to ask if any of you know what year that was? It's been bugging me for ages and even my uncle can't remember the year it was anymore. Definitely 90s is all I can go of basically. Probably 94-96.

Must be 60-16 then could have sworn it was 66 but it definitely had two 6s in it (and I dont mean 66 i mean both numbers for either team had a 6 in)
Uncle probably got the wrong score or I have remembered wrong, I was 7 during both those games haha.

That was more 2002. We played some good rugby at times in 2001, in fact for me it was one of the most memorable seasons as a Wire fan just because so much happened, on and off the field, good and bad. There was always a story about Wire. As well as the home wins over Leeds, Saints, Wigan and Bradford, a few big away performances come to mind...the Challenge Cup semi when nobody gave us a chance and we ran Bradford close for an hour with Briers playing outstandingly (this was either just before or just after the death of his brother). Then I remember a good tight win over Halifax at the Shay when we had just re-signed Mercer, with him going berserk and pumping up the Wire crowd at the end, and winning at Wakey by one point with a Briers drop goal just after Langer had left, in DVDVs final game. Also, the week after the 80 odd point flogging at home to Bradford, we backed up by winning away at Cas which was a good result to finish the season. We also had a draw with Saints late on, when Sean Long came to the sidelines to put headphones on so he could talk to Millward, I was in pondlife that day and pondlife gave him some of the worst stick I've ever heard a player get. All in all a very interesting season

| Alan Reddicliffe - winger top scorer in U21s competition that season, never made it into SL.
John Hill - big ginger prop, played a couple of games for us, think he went to Halifax, then briefly got signed by Millward at Saints when they had injuries. Ended up playing in the Championship.
Ian Parry - was prop in our Academy team around the time Paul Wood, Mark Gleeson, Highton, Hulse and Noone were in it. Don't think he played for the first team.
Kris Tickle - Academy stand-off, played once away at Cas in the last game of the season then disappeared

| Seem to remember Ian Parry making one sub appearance at Cas last game of the season. Can't remember which season though. Sure he played a few seasons at Swinton. Big lad but slow doesn't quite cover it. John Hill was pretty decent imo. Played a few years at Leigh and Rochdale. The Leythers seemed to like him.
