| I have, for most of this Season been appalled at the level of officiating at most SL Matches, and unfortunately, feel that at yesterdays Showpiece, we were again treated to p..s poor officiating, both on the field and upstairs.
In my opinion, Hicks should never be allowed on a field again. I have long held the belief he is 'way above' his capabilities, but thats me.
Had 'that decision' been against us, we would naturally be in uproar.
Thalers decision on the Lineham try was imo, simply 'levelling it up', and even the TV pundits were amazed....says it all.
What possessed Hicks to make that decision is beyond comprehension, and whilst I dont think it ultimately affected the game, but you cant help but think it had 'some' influence.
On such decisions can games hang, and possibly careers.
Will the RFL do anything about it........NO, but when you compare the level of officiating we have, versus the NRL, its night & day, and imho, not helping the game.
Not ONE of our officials could make it in the NRL, and that speaks huge volumes. I fully appreciate the officials are at the end of the day human, but when you have all the tools at your disposal to use..........
As I said, had that happened AGAINST us, we would be quite rightly, calling for heads to roll.
Interested what others think, but OMG, WHAT a performance from EVERYONE yesterday, one of the BEST TEAM perfomances Ive seen from the boys, in many a year.

| Hicks was behind and to the left of the contact with the ball on the Knowles incident. He saw it at full speed and it probably looked like he bounced it at the side with his fingertips. If he’d sent it upstairs it would be a no-try on the field and hence probably wouldn’t be overturned as there seemed to be no camera angle that could provide conclusive proof that there was controlled downward pressure. I’m not defending Hicks just stating what happens in every game these days.
I’m not fan of the on-field call as the video referee ends up making some very questionable calls looking for even the slightest chance to confirm the on-field decision (see Goodwin’s shorts material brushing Lineham’s after Fages pushes Goodwin).
I would award both as tries under the old video ref rules, but I’m not a ref.

| Yes, the officials are useless but bar a sending off nothing is won and lost in the third minute. For the next 77 mins Wires hassled them into errors and knocked them out of their arrogant stride.
I'd have been annoyed too, but I'd have been more annoyed at Holbrook for poor tactics, riaky team selection.and inability to find a plan B ..... [iagain[/i.

| As long as the official isn't doing it deliberately, I have no issue with bad calls. It's all part of the game, in the same way that a player may have an off day or the ball may take an unexpected bounce. If chance and luck were taken from the game it would be totally predictable.

| Robert Hicks controlled the game very well yesterday and is by far the best at the minute.
The idiot from Warrington giving him a death threat at Hull KR was a disgrace and unfortunately somebody who frequents this forum did exactly the same yesterday on Twitter...he should be ashamed of himself

| i have to agree..... lets looks at what happened
* A few correct decisions at the start as saints had 2 tries chalked off
* A terrible call to disallow a warrington try, in an attempt to 'even things up'
But the worst thing that happened was the constant saints obstruction under the high ball. They knew we would be kicking it high at King near their own line, so they had a dodgy little 'wall of obstruction' waiting.... 2-4 player move together and create a line of players, that the warrington attackers have to run around to get to the ball, making it much easier for the person fielding the kick. Obvious obstruction and blatant cheating... over and over.
Still, justice was done..... the best team prevailed, despite the rehed, unpunished cheating from 'best team in the league'.

| Over the course of the season decisions go for & against you. Yes, it’s frustrating when a referee gets the decision wrong but they’ve got to make a split second judgement then your scrutinised by different camera angles and slow mo replays... think back to that Percival one against us in June over the course of the season it evens itself out.
The only referee I’ve had a problem with this year is Childs at Catalan. He was terrible and total lost control of the game. Referees need to stamp their Authority down on the game, be fair and let the game flow, Childs failed for me.

| I’ve not got any issues with the way he reffed it, not saying that because we won but simply because I think they go to vid ref far to often. What I mean is they have often gone to video when it’s obvious and you think wtf why go up for that. Saying all that I get it the 2 decisions in question are by far the worse I’ve ever seen and the fact it was in a Final makes it a bigger thing.

| The fact there was a controversial decision involved in beating them makes it even sweeter. Redvee TV is currently comedy gold. Excellent lack of penalties given by Hicks yesterday. Refs make mistakes they even themselves out over a season.

Yep.. this is the best bit...... 6-0 to saints early on could have changed the game.

| We were crying about Hicks in last years GF.
Saints beat us this season due to a pathetic forward pass call.
You win some, you lose some. Hicks is the only referee who seems to be able to control players.
As for the Knowles try, if it was sent up at a 'no try' it wouldn't have been overturned. If he did get it down, it was fingertips. Yes it should have been sent upstairs but the result would have been the same.

| Dispite the bbc taking the heavy saints bias yesterday in my opinion. Even jonathan davies was criticising the refereeing standards throughout the whole game

| We've had the rough end of a poor decision that's cost us silverware. It's 18-4 in the record books, that's all that's relevant, and our names on the cup with 2019 against it.
