just proves all the doom and gloomers right and the happy clappers wrong. The lad couldn't have given one flying fiddlers elbow about SL or Wire. Turned up, did the absolute bare minimum (on a good day) and left with a stack of cash under his arm.

As a club we have to take a bit of responsibility as well. It was a panic buy and Roberts didn’t really want to come in the first place, so no surprise he didn’t settle. Was always going to be a 50-50 whether it would come off.

That said, he didn’t really commit himself fully IMO which I would hope a professional to do. This quote annoys me a bit as it’s not the Tyrone we saw during the whole of last season:

"Being a half you have to take control on the field and it felt normal”

Good luck to him, he'll be spending most of the time stood behind the posts with his teammates, chomping gum like a sulky bovine whilst the opposition line up another conversion.

Karma and the natural flow of the universe between right and wrong will catch up with him one day. He'll come home from training complaining about the unusually high precipitation levels and find his missus has emptied the bank account and ran off to live with a hoover salesman from Whitehaven, cos she misses British food and winters.

Leaving aside the fact that calling dedicated fans' happy clappers' is the type of over-simplistic insult favoured by the likes of Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson, the opposite could be argued. Roberts clearly does have talent and ability.

Got to agree with you and IMO I don't remember too much blind faith being shown by the optimists on the forum for any great length of time? Yes there was hope when he was first signed but most of that evaporated when reality bit, as it was very obvious to an almost belligerent level that he didn't want to be here.

I don't think many people doubted his talent it was his lack of application and evidence of it that frustrated. As I have said before it was patently obvious that he he did not want to be at Warrington but as easyWire says we were desperate and probably brow beat him into submission. Still we need to learn from this episode and then best forgotton. I mean to every cloud ...... enter Blake Austin

Shame. I'd have loaned him George Harrison...My Sweet Lord if if have known he only needed some spiritual guidance while with Wire.

Not sure why we keep revisiting this, we were desperate for a quality half, we managed to sign one, but given the comments from KF on how he had to be coerced over it was clearly a risk.

It didn't work out, Roberts wasn't happy and didn't have the strength of character to be able to put in a shift every week.

Roberts did the right thing, holding his hand up and going home, it allowed us to bring in Austin and now Widdop for 2020, he could quite easily have carried on pocketing a £300k+ per year till the end of his contract.

At the end of the day, it seems to have worked out for both parties.

Totally agree. We really need to move on. We are beginning to sound like a dumped spouse going on about their ex.

All the odder when that dumping allowed us to find a proverbial girlfriend that was twice as attractive and half as crazy.

I have disdain for the man. But who cares when we have Blake Austin now and both him and Gareth Widdop for next year.

We've come out of it very well. Let's move on.

Exactly. He turned out to have bad character and we are well rid. His life will no longer influence mine so he can slink back into my "best forgotten about" box with the likes of Russell, Asotasi, that winger with dangerous dogs, England, Bailey, the sick note centre, the heavy metal show pony, Cox, et al. Jees just going through that list shows me the abject we have signed in the last 8 years.

Starting to understand the phrase “haters will hate”. We are having a good season without him (and the various historical characters referenced, some I agree with, some I consider unfairly judged).
