Genuine question - anyone know why we are top, when we have the same points difference as Salford but have scored fewer points than them? Has the criteria changed?

One table has us top and another had Salford.
Officially it would be Salford if for and against equals out.

That was my understanding of it too, yet the official RFL table has us top. I'm glad about it, obviously, but just curious why.

I heard the Super League trophy was spotted in Halliwell Jones body shop having some engraving done.

Doubt it. Even in 20011 we were never hyped up as much as Cas were the other year.

For the sake of the game as a whole though, the trophy NEEDS a new name on it. It'll happen this year I think, Whether it's us or someone else, Leeds are gone for me and I can't see wigan being up to much. Their strength and winning mentality was all down to Wayne and his "If you're not first you're last" mentality.

Saints are the going to be the main threat i think. Us, Saints and Cas it's between I think.

Cas are no threat this season. 2 horse race in my opinion unless Wigan somehow find that mentality wane drilled into them.

Don't say we've got to wait until 20011 for it to be our year !!!!!!

I don't remember Cas being that hyped in 2017. At the start of the season they weren't favourites, people were saying they've had a fractious off season with the Denny Solomona case, how will they replace his tries. I think we might even have been favourites at the start of 2017 (lol). Cas built a bandwagon of media attention during the year, because nobody else was really firing and Cas were head and shoulders the best team playing the best attacking rugby in the league.

I think we were favourites in 2011 but this was in the long period of Leeds dominance so it was hard for another team to be mega-hyped.

At the moment I think everyone can see there's a vacuum in terms of really good sides hence we are rated a good shot this year. This is actually a really window to win trophies, because the combined strength of Wigan + Saints + Leeds must be lower than I can ever remember it, and Hull and Cas have fallen back from where they were a couple of years ago. "2019 year of the wolfs" and all that.

Are you being serious? It was all Eddie talked about. Wire could have slotted a drop goal on our own 40 and Eddie would still be saying:

"ooooooooh what a drop goal! what an unbelievable kick! - The only other player I than think of that could have done that is this years top MOS candidate Luke Gale. He's kicked 6 drop goals this season, which makes him the best kicker in the competition by far. He's kicked them under more pressure as well"

Every post match analysis would see Gales best mate Jon Wells bringing up clips and comparing them to what Cas did in their game. It was ridiculous.
