| Go on the Saints Redvee forum for some comedy gold. The bitterness on there is unbelievable! I'm not sure they're actual RL fans but some very deluded people who support a team who think showing up will win the all the trophys.
Such arrogance and the melt down is great!!

| It is really, really, funny, even as a supporter of FPTP and a Premiership Play Off system rather than we've pretty much always done it this way. I know that it won't be changing soon and it's the format that we signed up to, but, we should give the LLS a higher profile IMO rather than collectively laughing at it.
I suppose that's one problem with a self proclaimed ghetto it can turn very quickly a land of one opinion .....great when everything is rosy but the potential to become an isolated cesspit of misery when things go against the grain

| The site is comedy gold a couple of this years favourites
1) when some Saints fans tied to goad the Wire players which was c;ear;y seen on SKY it was the wire players fault for targeting a Saints player in the tackle, and the other explanation was that these heroes went to the aid of the cheerleaders that were near the incident
"Let's just look at what happened in the cold light of day here before anyone does anything.Ball had gone out of play Lineham tips up Barba and almost spears his head into the ground,Barba complains and Lineham puts his head into Barba assisted by Rathcford pushing Barba towards the fence and all the Warrington team join in followed by the Saints lads. Three of the cheerleader girls are sat by the fence in obvious danger at this point.
Sky's commentary interpretation was a disgrace (just watched it). Lineham should have been sin-binned at least. Childs was not helped by his partially sighted linesman who missed almost everything for most of the game.
What exactly did the fan do to warrant any action apart from 'comment' to a Warrington player he barely touched him. If he upset BMM then suites me because a minute later BMM gives the penalty away.
The situation was completely caused by the actions of the Warrington players who had an agenda throughout the game.
Chris Hill is a poor captain as he was involved in most of the handbags and verbals."
2) after getting ripped a new one by catalans, they were asking fans to get in touch with the RL and complain that Kenny Edwards had thrown a ball nearly decapitating one of their fans
"I suggest that everyone should email the RFL with details of what occurred. Something like:
I wish to draw attention to the behaviour of Catalans player Kenny Edwards in the 62nd minute of the match when he deliberately and maliciously threw a ball at the Saints fans, striking a young woman and a child. This incident was not in the heat of the moment, adjacent to the play, but at the opposite end of the stadium to where a try had just been scored and Edwards had carried the ball some distance upfield in order to launch his attack.
I find this behaviour to be totally unacceptable and request that the RFL conduct an investigation into the player’s conduct. I await your response with details of what action will be taken. "

| Smalltime bitterness on a massive level.
I always knew that the plastic scousers have never got on with their pie munching neighbours, but I wasn't aware of their recent obsession with us reaching such levels. Maybe Sky Sports Eddie has [ifanned the flames[/i with his endless hoodoo talk of the last decade or so.
The opening salvo on the thread, really takes the biscuit, bemoaning the fact that the league's two most entertaining sides aren't there. Diddums. I didn't see a great deal of entertainment from either side on Thursday/Friday. In fact, in 180 minutes of rugby, the Scousers and Yarkshire versions of the Harlem Globetrotters could only muster one try between them, and our defence all season can hardly be described as [ivicelike[/i . We let in a few, only last week v Wakey. Surely a side containing Barba and the new Andy Gregory, can unpick such an undeserving side, so the super, soaraway Saints can play the brand of barnstorming rugby only they can play.
There's a few boycotting Saturday's event, out of principle. I hope they enjoy Strictly, X Factor or another load of pointless International football friendlies.
They could always put their Johnny Vegas DVDs on, with his hilarious one man routine of a fat bloke, being a Northern stereotype. Well, that will take all of 30 seconds.

They had another one "WANTED TRAFFIC CONE"
Saints coach Justin Holbrook was on the look out for an out of contract traffic cone. Justin said -
" on reviewing the tapes of our training sessions it became apparent that at least 2 or 3 players a session tripped over the marker cones, by employing a traffic cone as our new number one it will stiffen up our defence, whilst "Coney" may not be as manoeuvrable as Barba its head on defence is unquestionable"

| In fairness to them, what would we have been feeling if we were in their situation.
Saints have, under Holbrook, at least taken steps towards becoming more of an entertaining team, against the general trend in Super League. Holbrook comes across as a good guy and I would expect that most Wire fans regret that we weren't more bold and moved for him last year, when we were still dithering about with TS. Wasn't the story that we could have had Barba as well but TS put him off joining? Players like that are rare in modern SL and we could have both Holbrook and Barba (according to this forum anyway) - instead of Price and Roberts.
If you take away the p&b glasses and look at it objectively, Wire v Wigan is the "anti RL" final. Saints and Cas would at least have given the game a showpiece final with two teams that try to throw the ball about and play even if the overall quality is mixed. Saints have also tried to bring through their own talent through their academy, which is what we want to see. Now the final is between two attritional teams who are all about "the end justifies the means". The Saints fans will look at this and think, most likely Wire are going to blow it in a final again, which means they know the script for next week. Wigan grind away a win, the media hails Shaun Wane as a departing genius, we have to hear about what an all time great Sam Tomkins is, it's another trophy for Wigan to take them further away from Saints in the all-time list, which the pie-eaters will rub in their faces. And it is unlikely to be a classic final to remember. So you can understand why the Saints fans are not in a great mood about the turn of events.
Also it will play on their own neuroses in a way that Man Utd fans struggle to deal with being in the shadow of Man City and Liverpool. To Saints fans who have watched for any length of time, the concept of losing to Wire in a knock out game, at Knowsley Road, in a close finish, is completely wrong. The win they had in the league where Richardson kicked the penalty from half way a couple of months back will have just made this worse because that now seems completely futile.
They will also look at this season, with Catalans winning the Challenge Cup and now seeing the two teams in the Grand Final, and think that the vast majority of Saints teams from 1996 to about 2014 would have wrapped up a treble and this is one that has massively slipped away.

| Go on then I'll give it a go. Apart from your first sentence which is a question you do make some valid points.
HOWEVER, and to answer your question IF we had been beaten and that loss had been fair and square, we would probably sulked a bit and looked at one or two game changing incidents licked our wounds said typical Saints and the morning after consoled ourselves that there has been some improvement maybe scapegoated one or two and resorted to next year ....
I can't genuinely speak for others of course but what we wouldn't have done in the cold light of day is blame everything but ourselves for coming up short ridicule the system, the finalists and to a man say the GF should be boycotted? Totally Embarrassing never mind Wicked
I went last year as neutral and had a great day out apart from the actual game. How did this happen with Cas last season's Saints in the mix?

| Mr/Mrs Cinnamon, I think someone from. RedVee has hacked your account.
Firstly, Holbrook isn't a good guy. He's a smug twerp with a dodgy haircut. His refusal to rotate the Saints squad has been a huge factor in them plateauing in the first half of the season. Why would we swop him for Price?
The most comical aspect of the posts on RV are their self-glorification of the entertainers tag. They weren't too flamboyant on Thursday, got outscored 3 tries to 1 and had to rely on drop goals to keep in touch. Maybe they should try RU.
Yes, most Wire fans would prefer a more entertaining style, but Price made it clear that sorting the defence was the priority. Based on Thursday, he was right. Hopefully new halves next year will mean we can be both entertaining [iand[/i successful.
Finally, any team calling Wires grubs when rhey have Wilkin and LMS in their ranks and Wilkin on the coaching staff is pure, comedy gold.
