Well that's me off the fence for buying a season ticket

I'm all for 'In Smith We Trust', but this signing has actually made me angry. There's a small, regularly updated list in my head of players who I just hope to high heaven that we never sign. Wheeler was just after Hock, McIll-discipline, Brough and Ryan Bailey on the current iteration of that list.

I don't know what it is about him, but no matter how good he turns out to be for us, I don't think I'll ever be able to properly get behind him.

Why are people behaving this way, have someofyou forgot Solomona came to us with a poor injury record and look how wellhe done for us, give the guy a chance im guessing thats why he only as a1 year deal to prove it.

I sincerely hope this isn't our last signing. We are turning into a team of utility players.

No doubt it's the club taking a chance so he will have to settle in very quickly to appease the doubters, the pluses are he does have talent and is pacey we will have to wait and see how it all works out, welcome.

Underwhelmed

The Club isn't really taking a chance at all. It's a 1 year contract and he certainly won't be on top money. If he does manage to stay fit then he'll be a real asset and no doubt he'll be offered an enhanced contract for future years. If it doesn't work out, then there's very little lost.

Sheesh. The kids haven't even been round "Penny for the Guy"ing, and already, some of the "faithful" have 2015's scapegoat in place.

Give the lad a break.

As Teesside says, it's one year, on a (assumed) smallish contract.

If he doesn't make the grade/gets injured, we have contingencies in place.

I don't know what the fuss is about either. Look at the wording on the website; "At times he’s had some bad luck with injuries but we’ve assessed the situation and look forward to him contributing to the 2015 season.” It doesn't say he is as fit as a fiddle, neither do they give the Wigan / Bateman line about breaking him down and re-building him. It's a low key statement on expectation coupled with a 1 year contract, i.e. " we are going to have a punt on Gary but we will not have lost anything if it doesn't pay off".

My only worry is that there are a multitude of people on here who seem to think that they all know better than Tony Smith.

Agreed give him a chance,nobody will give stuff if he scores a winning try against the pies or stains will they.Come on get a grip.
