| In light of the Widnes incident on Sunday I wondered what everyone's view is on this.
Personally I get myself a pint on my way into the ground and if at half time the queue isn't ridiculous I may get one then.
I don't think the clubs would like to ban alcohol sales as they would lose a lot of revenue and it punishes the people who can enjoy a pint without taking it to excess and causing problems.
However my issue is people in groups constantly pushing past to get rounds in and visit the toilet, I had that exact problem on Saturday at Langtree Park..
And just to prove it isn't just a British problem, I was at the World Cup final with a group of 5 Aussies in front of me.
It was like a beer relay, as one came back with 5 beers another got up to get another 5 they can't have seen 10 mins of the game..!
Thoughts?

| Personally I would not have an issue with a ban on alcohol at games. When i go to the match, I might go for a drink afterwards but I dont drink at the game itself..............cant afford to for one thing. Speak to many fans (and also employees) and you can probably guess they would say that most trouble they have encountered involved an element of alcohol. Ever tried to get on the terraces, only to find you cant because of the people lining up along the yellow line and not letting anybody past, just so they can get to the bar ASAP at half time ?
That being said.......I also would not begrudge the bloke who's worked hard all week and want to enjoy a pint with his mates, having that pint whilst watching the game.
Furthermore though, I would have no issue whatsoever if the club operated a zero-tolerance approach to troublemakers especially where alcohol is involved. As regards revenue genartion, food and drinks at the HJ are NOT in the hands of the club. Its a separate catering firm. OK, so maybe high beer sales means the club can charge more for the rights.....but it also means the company involved doesnt have to pick up the pieces on the terraces.

| I wouldn't have beer on the terraces. I can't stand the procession of people pushing past and going to and from the bar. In the seats it's even worse having to stand for the same person 4-5 times per game. Tonight I'll have a couple of jars pre-match, then a few afterwards as I'm staying over.

| Maybe meet in the middle and have the kiosks closed during play? So say tonight they would stop serving at 7.55 and re open for 15 minutes at half time?

| I don't think we should be banning beer at grounds because of the actions of a few idiots from Widnes, yes its annoying people pushing past you but the same could be said if they need a or want something to eat

| How about the approach at Old Trafford; Beer/other alcoholic beverages can be consumed on the concourses only, No alcohol can be taken into the seating areas within the confines of the stadium

I believe that is being reviewed for future grand finals.

| Don't mind them serving beer, don't mind drinking in the seats/terraces, don't mind a few people going out during the game (believe me as you get on its not always the beer you are going out for!). What I do mind is people coming in the ground drunk or well on, that's what causes the problems down the line. From what I read about the incidents at Leigh it was "pre-loading" on cheaper booze that started the problems. That's also what happens at the GF where the atmosphere outside the ground at Old Trafford is like a 70s football match sometimes.
Get the stewards to do their job at the gates, not just look for petty things to interfere with like tops on bottles!
Mind you that said there's a bloke who always comes in 2 minutes after the game starts with bottles of cider; drives me mad especially as his wife appears 2 minutes after that!
Rant over

| I'm in favour of beer on the terraces but get fed up of having to push past people to get to the bar. It would be better if those at the end of the row went to the bar and passed them along the row to us. Alternatively they could extend the yellow hashed areas across the stands on alternate steps to make access easier. They could also run a gutter along the stand to save the need for people to go down for the toilet. I accept that this doesn't prevent the need to go down for a number 2 but would certainly improve crowd safety by reducing movement and the use of stairs.

| I'd rather ban numpties who don't understand the forward pass and insist on shouting about the 'linesman' and 'Child's' all game!

| An old woman stood next to me last night pointed at Russell when we were defending and said "what's he doing back there? He might as well be off the pitch!"
65 minutes into the game she said to her friend "he's done nothing all game has he that Evans?"
