| When I went past on Sunday it still looked a way off being ready. Can't wait for it to open, it seems the town is finally getting some decent bars!

| The place next door is fast becoming a favourite of mine, I keep meaning to try the Palmyra and the place on Springfield Street too. Baffitos via the Barley Mow for me tonight.

| Not open yet - walked past it today and work still being done.
The Palmyra is a nice place to go to.
I believe that The Institute (the big building next to Parr Hall) is being fitted out for a restaurant and a bar.

| Seems to have ground to a halt. Not seen much progress in the last few weeks.
Costello's in Stocky Heath isn't too bad. Decently priced, and good ale.

| Hasn't the Wilkie empire been a bit feeble over the last few years.
Lower Angel...under new management
Jams (ex Old Town House)....under new management
(did they have Porter's?) if so....under new management
Wilkies Tavern is STILL "the ", though. GREAT ale

| I don't get the obsession with real ale, it's warm, unrefreshing and smells like feet.
If I drink, I drink to alter my conscious state, who really drinks alcohol for the taste?

| To quote Jim Jeffries
Quote: oh I don't like the taste of it " Ever ask a non drinker why he doesn't drink... "oh I don't like the taste of it"
NOBODY DOES, nobody like the taste of it, we drink because we f'kin have to.
Nobody has ever had a shot of tequila and said "oh that's lovely, next time I'll have that instead of pudding it's so moreish" '"
Mid 30's btw

| The unwritten man code, let's all lie to each other that we really enjoy this stuff.
Give me the choice of a beer or a soft drink in any occasion except one in which I want to dance or sing or chat inebriated ladies up and I pick the soft drink because it tastes better and does the intended purpose of what a drink should do, stops dehydration.
It's either minimum 7 pints or 6 shots or just don't waste your time.
Altering your conscious state helps get you through life but let's not lie to ourselves on the taste, alcohol pre 1998 was rank
