Does anyone else look at the wire website and think that it is just rubbish compared to a lot of other clubs. Just seems to be very basic, lack of features and just shoddy updates.

Take the news article today about the coaching staff signing new deals; the original picture has a white background (as seen on bbc sports news), but they decided to make it blue, you can still see the white around the figures as if they've quickly used the blue fill button on paint.

I think for such a big club, we need an overhaul of the site as its quite poor.

Thought that when I read the article. Considering the club is owned by a promoter, we are terrible at the marketing/social media side of things.

I always think with an ever expanding town not enough is done to get new fans in.

I have said this for a while. Now would be the perfect time to reach out to new audiences, off the back of the RLWC.

Totally agree. Always thought it looked a bit amateurish, you look at the likes of Wigan and Leeds' websites and it pales in comparison. Not what you'd expect from a top SL club.

The club has outgrown this website, so I really hope they design a new one. I must admit that I thought the chances of this were not great in the current climate - until I saw Moving Forwards comment about marketing. I think he is right, the club deserves a much better 'shop window' for their goods and products, and it would repay them in the long run. I use it on a regular basis for merchandise, tickets, and club information, but I am afraid at the moment it looks 'quaint' and some of the functionality is not great.

When I was at uni it used to really annoy me that you can't buy student tickets online if you want them delivered and it costs over £6 for tickets to be posted out. As a result, for away days I would have to buy through whoever we were playing, so that is a fair bit of commission the club missed out on from me and no doubt others over the years.

Always amazes me that we are owned and run by a world famous promoter albeit in the music industry, yet we don't excel as a business in this area.

The website undoubtedly needs an overhaul but to label our marketing terrible is laughable, and an affront to the work that goes on bringing the big kahuna in day in, day out much to the envy of most clubs.

sponsorship and marketing are two different things. Don't get me wrong we do a lot extremely well, but marketing is the only side where the club lets itself down.

Surely attracting sponsorship to the club is part and parcel of how the club is "marketed" to potential sponsors?

Certainly much more so than the facility to purchase a student ticket from the website (which the potential for fraud is an obvious reason why you can't).

The Emirates deal is fantastic but does it make someone who enjoyed the World Cup more likely to want to go and watch the Wire next year than if Brooksons were still on the front? Probably not.

If that was the case, why do they sell child and concession tickets online? Both just as, if not more vulnerable to 'fraud'.

I think you will find that a shirt with "Fly Emirates" on the front has greater appeal than one with "Benson For Beds" on the front. I remember the right furor on here about wanting shirts without the sponsors name on the front that year, don't recall any posts along thise lines this year. "Brooksons" are more neutral but ceratinly a company that has become invoilved with the club on different levels due to marketing targetted at the business sector.

Students have been identified as a high risk for on-line fraud, compared to juniors and OAPs, as they are already as a section of society stealing a living from tax-payers.

Cobblers. Marketing covers everything about how the club is represented, it's profile and how this is maximised in revenue and profit terms as a result.
