We lost, and that's the end of it....

Look how far we've come as a club, not how far we've got to go...the world doesn't stop turning cos we got beat (okay, so it did just for the night) but as a club we are so much better than where we used to be and let's not forget that....

We for one will be there again next year for yet another season of ups and downs, trials and tribulations, beer and sunshine, Bovril and rain.....

My thoughts exactly. Had my doom and gloom last night, woke up this morning feeling quite positive about next season and already looking forward to it. Then I logged onto RLfans...

It will be interesting watching Tony Smith make another team. I'm positive with regards to new additions and hope we have one or two more to help push the team and season ticket sales.

Felt surprisingly OK last night (numbness and alcohol I think!).

This morning it hit me and I have been a grumpy miserable 'so and so' most of the day. But what's done is done. I would far rather have lost last night than to Huddersfield last week. Start work in a few minutes and hopefully it will all be a distant, if not still a little raw, memory tomorrow.

We will brush ourselves off, pick ourselves up, and start all over again (again).

Roll on 2014. C'mon the Wire.

I'm still gutted. We had such a good opportunity to win, set ourselves up to do so in the first half and are so much better than Wigan in terms of our personnel which I don't think we could have said last year v Leeds.

However poor execution (Bridge running into touch in first half), poor marker defence for at least 2 tries , some poor discipline and disruptive injuries left us falling short again.

However I'm really interested to see how the likes of Currie and Glen Riley step up next season as we make the transition to the next phase of our team. Looking forward to February already.

Currie has stepped up already. Had he not been ill and lost a fair bit of weight and strength he would have been in last night. We lost because of the injury disruption.
I felt ok last night and am still the same. We've come a long way in the last 5 years and the club is in good shape. Now the Wire.

I wish I could be positive but what is there positive to be about???? Answer.....Nothing. That was our best chance of winning the Grand Final and we blew it. We have to face facts our best chance every season of winning a trophy is the CC!! We will never know what it is like to win the Grand Final.

Agree with this post, was gutted on Saturday night but got to see what it means to my little lad as he sobbed at the end.
We will come back stronger next season hopefully and with some new signings a 3rd grand final appearance in as many years could happen.

I know it is fashionable on here to bag Bridge but looking at this body shape he was expecting Monaghan to come back on his inside for a drop-off.

I wish I could look forward. The only thing I can feel positive about from Saturday is that we didn't resort to dirty underhand tactics to win a game. I am not looking forward to next season and right now I can't even get myself ready or up for it. I stick with what I said:

1. We will never know what it is like to win a Grand Final.

2. We should stop saying "When that day comes" because it simply isn't going to.

2007-2011 St Helens lost 5 SL Grand Finals in a row, yet in each of those years I still wished we were in their position of actually being good enough to get to the Final.

Unlike last year, when I couldn't face watching the game back, I have now watched the game. Felt like crap watching the second half, even worse watching the interviews afterwards, but at least it's done.

Got the world cup to look forward to, going to a few games, and then start building to/looking forward to the start of the new season. We will be there or thereabouts at the business end of next season and the experiences of the last few seasons, good and bad, will only make us stronger.

Looking forward to Wembley, Old Trafford and a CC, LLS, SL treble in 2014 4.23095703125:5
