Looks as though both players are off to Oz, and Chase as well.

I wonder if this will have an effect on the salary cap. Will they look to increase it in order to retain local talent ? It would make life more difficult for clubs that are already struggling financially, but a move to a 10 team league (or 2 x 10 teams) could be a way around the problem.
Regardless, there seems to be an increasing number of players disappearing down under.

| Hock was the best back rower in the world about 3 months ago, he then signed for Widnes and Liam Farrell instantly became better.

| Liam Farrell has been great so far this season.
The only way a salary cap increase would work would be if it was to the same level as the NRL.
That's unsustainable for Super League clubs.
At best you might find that a couple of teams with wealthy benefactors can spend it and even then that would be a push. You then you have the problem of widening the gap in quality between the teams.
Increase the cap by a modest amount and all you will find is top players still go to the NRL and the remaining ones get a few extra grand per year.

| I think the clue is in the article: "which will add enormous grunt to Parramatta's pack from next season onwards".
The Chase deal is immediate though.

Another three tries from Farrell today.

| Now confirmed that Hock and Mossop are leaving. Plus the signing of 31/32 yr old Powell from Union.

Scoring 3 tries in a game doesn't make him better than Hock, although I've been saying for the past 2 or 3 seasons that Farrell is one of the best young players in SL.
I'm interested to know your thoughts on signing a 31 year old Union forward, having seen your constant criticism of Warrington's ageing players.

He'll be the oldest player at Wigan. Had he been at Wire he would be about the 9th oldest. We can afford to carry a couple of over thirties with so many young players coming through.
Have we missed Hock this season, not at all, so to receive a transfer fee for him is a big bonus for the club.

Rogues. By the time he's adapted to RL he'll be 33. I'm hoping that Wigan will give him a few games with their Welsh partners which would give them a real financial boost with the increased gates.

Players like Hock can make the difference when it comes to winning the big games. He'll not be missed against the likes of London however perhaps he's missed against other teams who'll be competing for trophies. This season to date Wigan have failed to beat any of the other top four teams with two defeats and a home draw who knows how those games might have gone with Hock in the team?

| Maybe he is going to be in a new Movie alongside Mickey Rourke and Wigan don't want to miss out on the opportunity to be associated with a holywood blockbuster.
