| I never had the chance to meet my 'hero' - Welsh racing driver Tom Pryce - he died 6 months before I was due to see him at the British GP in '77. Always has been a massive regret, but actually he was a very quiet person and argubaly meeting him could have been a disappointment
For many people, meeting their heros can be a big disappointment.
Met a certain Jeremy Clarkson - not nice
Met Botham - again, not so nice (but that comes across on Question of Sport imo) - having said that it's brillant what he does for charity
Met Charriots - very self centred
Met Jonathan Davies - great bloke
Also Dean Bell and his wife we both great. Really nice and down to earth. The guy was an awesome athlete even if he did play for the wrong team.

| Not my hero, but met Bernard Hepton (played an officer in Colditz) in the 70s. Tried to strike a conversation with him but he told me to go away.
Also chatted to Peter Andre's brother, Chris who had been doing a turn in our hotel in Cypus. he was a top bloke.

| Met the queen on quite a few occasions very friendly always says hello. various prime ministers, Gordon Brown always chatty. Corrie stars always good. Premiership footballers now that's different they won't speak or mingle with anybody not even kids unless its for publicity. Also met Bruce Springsteen twice had a chat once and second time got his autograph.

| When I did my school work experience I went to Melwood training ground. I was 15 so you can imagine how excited I was, being a big Liverpool fan. I saw them for what they really were, and from there my interest in the sport rapidly declined. A year or so later I discovered RL and haven't looked back!

| Almost ran Bruce Springsteen over in Long Branch New Jersey running across Ocean Avenue to the beach. He lived with my sister before he became famous..One of the numbers on his first album *Greetings From Asbury Park* was all about my sister..*I Came For You*....He makes reference to her Cheshire smile on it....I met various members of Southside Johnny's Asbury Jukes in the Stone Pony a few times...Couldn't tell you what they were like because they were off their heads most of the time. The only normal one was Stan Harrison a sax player who was a really nice chap.

Followed Bruce for 30 years now, only been to Asbury Park once as a drive through to visit the sites such as stone pony, boardwalk etc. I was talking to staff at St Roccos at Hood Manor a few years ago and one of them got talking about Bruce and they said that their daughter used to go out with him and when he's over here he still visits. Is that your mum.

| I met Ryan Giggs once. Really nice fella, but I probably wouldn't leave him alone with the missus.

| I will never forget my 5 year old daughter seeing Matt King in Morrisons in Stockton Heath a few days after Mathers nearly took his head off. She just stood there with her mouth open and right arm up pointing at him. What a gent he was? Fantastic bloke.
I've seen footballers walk past kids who have been stood outside a ground after a match only to be ignored. Shocking!

No, the whole of my family emigrated in 1960....I stayed here because I couldn't bear to abandon the mighty Wire so I went to live with my Gran....It was my sister Pauline who lived with Springsteen,or rather HE lived with her because he had nowt when she met him. He told her he would be rich and famous one day and when he did he'd buy her a restaurant...He became rich and famous but she's still waiting for the restaurant.

Can understand that, but when you do something that puts you in the limelight sport, music,tv&film etc sometimes you just got to roll with it.I believe some of the said people crave this attention but when they have made it they dont want to know anymore, well i cant accept you can turn it off or on when you please, you chose this path and you just have to live with it, i guess they dont see this when they on the path to celebrity???

| Many years ago I was in Manchester airport leaving to do some work in Mexico. Who should come walking through but Alex Higgins.
A young boy about 12 years of age approached him to ask for his autograph, but Higgins just brushed him off and headed for the bar. The young lad looked devastated. I lost all respect for Higgins from that day.

| Met alot of TV stars & presenters, as well as Premiership footballers when I worked at a hotel in Birmingham city centre in the early 90's. My only disapointment was when Blackburn Rovers stayed when Dalglish was the Manager. What an arrogant, rude man. I'm a Liverpool fan but I don't care for the bloke after the way he spoke to me and some of my work collegues. Genuis on the pitch..... not very nice off it.
Also, one of my sons once asked Gary Neville for an autograph only to be told 'no' without even looking at him. Quite a pointless act for something that would have taken seconds to complete.

| In the 70's I was friendly with a band who had a residency at a club called The Sundown in London which had *star* guests every Wednesday...One Wednesday the star attraction was to be The Crickets(Buddy Holly's old band) I was delighted and looking forward to seeing them...Being with the band I was allowed in the club before it opened and often spent all day in there...Early in the afternoon I was in the club with around 6 others(staff) in total when I spotted stood at the bar none other than Sonny Curtis in a long overcoat drinking alone...I sauntered up to him and told him he was a hero of mine being one of the founder members of rock 'n roll...I reminded him about what Paul McCartney said years ago that if there hadn't been a Buddy Holly and The Crickets there wouldn't have been a Beatles......he completely blanked me and turned his back..I could have clocked him one.....There was only him and myself in the room, a few words wouldn't have killed him.
