Which of our youngsters are you looking forward to seeing in the first team next year? With Blythe and Solomona leaving I think it will be a great chance for Currie to get some minutes, but Laithewaite and D. Bridge could push through. I am also hoping GOB comes back strong, he has never looked out of place in the first team, but I would like to see him really stake a claim for the number 6 shirt for 2014.

Anyone a regular at the 20's fixtures can add a few more prospects in?

Ben Evans, James Saltonstall, Ben Currie and James Mendeika have stood out for me when I've seen the U20's. Jordan Burke seems a good prospect at FB but is prone to errors under the high ball. Really like Glyn(?) Riley at prop as well.

I was a little surprised how well Ben Evans went over the weekend for Wales actually, played well considering its a big step up from 20's. Gene Ormsby seems to have all the right attributes to be a good player, just lacks a bit of something for me.

Really impressed with Ben. Two big hits on Mounis and worked his socks off. Know what you mean about Ormsby, sometimes his positioning for the final pass isn't great but its something I'm sure he'll work on.

Personally I'd like to see if Rhys Evans can get an injury free run.

Would like to see him get a few games at centre.

Gene Ormsby has apparently been given a 3yr deal by Wolves, so obviously he is rated by TS.
He is not the worlds fastest wing, but he does have a 'forceful' hand off and looks more like a back row forward in the aggressive manner that he takes on the defensive line. He 'crabs' sideways quite a lot, a bit like Tomkins, but doesn't (yet) make gaps in the defence very often. I think I would describe him as a 'rough diamond'. He has got bags of sprit, so I really hope he kicks on next year.

Glenn Riley, I think. I have not seen much of him, so wouldn't like to comment. I would agree about Ben Evans. Despite his injury problems, he does seem to be making steady progress. He is always looking to make tackles, and reminds me a bit of a young Ben Harrison (although Harrison is faster I would reckon). He turns 20 this month, and that is a young age for a prop, especially when he has to represent his country against seasoned pro's. I hope he puts on a bit more muscle and weight during the off season and perhaps gets a DR somewhere like Swinton.

Ben Evans was top tackler for Wales with 44 I believe which is some achievement. He could be the long term Benny Westwood replacement if he develops well. Our back row looks promising with Evans, Laithwaite and Currie if they all live up to their potential.

Rhys Evans looks like he has all the class to make it, maybe needs to bulk up a bit but I'd love to see him injury free and getting a run.

Mendeika, Saltonstall and Laithwaite all look excellent prospects too.

But for me Currie looks really special. I haven't seen a better back-row prospect for us since Sculthorpe and he has the coach, the teammates and the infrastructure to realise his huge potential.

He had a lucky break this season when Myler got injured, he must have played at least 6-7 first team games. I think he has a bit of a problem this coming year because Myler will need game time to mature and develop his own game. Perhaps he too will be sent off to the Championship to develop his talents ? He is a good tackler and very dangerous from 5 -10 metres. Yet another talented youngster that will be interesting to watch.

Dwyer looked good and took his chance well. He will get plenty of time to prove himself this year with the rest Monaghan and Higham will need. It would be good to see Laithwaite get a crack, I don't know why, but I just think he is going to be a great player. Feeling good though with the number of options we have coming through, names mentioned on this thread alone would make half a team! Lets hope they all benefit from the Swinton 'apprentice' and have a good grab for a first team shirt

Great players you have for the future exciting times a head for wolves ,hope they get the chance at some time soon as for Jordan Burke my cousins son England schoolboys fullback , i believe been under 20s captain for last few years very safe under the high ball , great tactical player great hands and temperament and if im correct played more 20s games than any other player in the current team . A player that was signed for £15,000 from Bradford Bulls 2yrs ago was the next big thing , couldnt take his shirt , and i believe has been released this year , so any player can have a bad game and thinking the head coach must like him to still be there !!! Unfortunately with the new RL rules over 20s players must go on loan and develop at non super league clubs icon_wink.gif

Didn't realise we had payed so much for him, so thanks for the info. I think a lot of people were surprised when he left. However, I thought James Mendeika was the U20 captain (until his bad elbow injury) ?

Looking through the NW Crusaders team, there seemed to be a few from Widnes. Who would you rate from your current crop of youngsters at U18 and 20 ?

I think Jack Owens is a great young talent with a great future , Alex gerrard up and coming prop rough tough , Josh Crawley great prop second row big strong think he was at wolves , under 18s Lewis hume hooker hard working player , john rigby hard and tough forward ... unlike wolves were still finding our feet in this division but had some good results and its about building for the future icon_smile.gif Id like to see Liam hulme down here belive hes been released hes a tough cookie ,see hes been on loan to scorpians and young Bobby goulding if you have to many well have them icon_smile.gif I Believe jordan was voted captain by fellow players a few years ago , Dont think im a Troll but love reading topics and discussions on your forum think my Beloved clubs gone into Hibernation till next year icon_biggrin.gif
