If we were to beat Saints we have the following week off, so surely it's a little early to be pessimistic about his chances ?

Looking at that article I think you will find he will.
Great news about Ratch he was tearing Weirdness apart before he went off.

I'd be worried putting Bridge in instead of Ratchford @ the moment

Yeah he might, but he wont be 100% fit.
Same happened last year or the year before IIRC, when he came back he was a shadow of his normal self.
IMO he should not play unless he is fit and ready to do himself justice, anything less will be to the detriment of the team and the club chances in the playoffs.
I really hope he will be good to go but the original diagnoses of 6-8 weeks means time is very much against him.

Bridge had his best game for a while but it was against some awful defending. Ratchford is a whole different level though, his reading of the weakness in an opposing defensive line is exceptional. He also makes the right side of our defence a lot stronger and gives Briers more confidence.

I think that is a vey good point. People tend to look at his attacking ability, which is hardly surprising. But he is an excellent tackler, strong and aggressive, and that 'releases' Briers to do what he does best.

| We do have more centres than just Bridge and Ratchford - how is Rhys Evans getting on?

Rhys put in a very good defensive stint against Saints last Friday, but he doesn't seem to have fully regained his attacking flair. He has been out for quite a while, so I suppose we can not expect too much from him.

| Hate to be the one to make sense but Blythe, if fit, would do perfectly well against Saints. He's played well against them before, we still have the best back line in the competition in Riley, Atkins and Monas, and he was MOM when we beat the try hard Pies last season.
I'd just put Blythe in and hope for the best.

Blythe looked very lively when he came on at centre on Sunday.

See, plenty of centres. I have to wonder if this kind of discussion would happen if, say, Carmont was injured - how much cover do they have?
