Mummy duck is now thoroughly depressed. SHE was the one that was famous for losing five in a row........until the 2011 GF!!!!!: |
|
| Personally not to keen on the idea (with working all day and working the next day as well). Annoying for people (season ticket holders) who cant make it thanks to the "out of the blue" announcement when it was made. Lets face it, its purley so that Sky dont have to do major rejigging of their schedules once "Monday Night Football" has finished.

| Why all the negativety? Surely we should give it a go & see how it works out. Lets face it RL needs as much exposure as it can get & if having games on a Monday helps then why not?
I know people will bleat on about travelling etc, but lets face it football fans have been doing it for years & over much greater distances

| Quite like the idea of monday night games, far more appealing than the aptmosphere-less saturday tea-time games.
But, as mentioned above, this is down to sky not having any wendyball, no wendyball euro 2012 and no olympics. Basically, they will be struggling for viewers and commercial sponsors. Once the Euros and Olympics have finished and wendyball season starts again, SL will revert back to fri/ sat nights.
Quite frankly, when sporting organisations sell their soul to the devil, these things happen, irrespective of what fans or clubs think. Take sundays Chelsea/ Spurs game. The reason for the daft ko time was sky not having FA cup rights, but having the rights to show a live televised league game at 4pm on a sunday afternoon, thus forcing the FA to adhere to it.

| becoming less value for money these season tickets of mine ! I dont take the kids to night games (my choice) but to have them on a 'school night' is rather thoughtless to say the least
Also
I assume you're refering to our national sport with this "wendyball" nonsense ?
Please stop ! It's embarrasing and makes you sound like a ***t

| I think it's good, if there's three SL games on Sky during this period, it will be better for the sport.
I don't really see it as any different to a Friday night game, if you work weekdays it will be no harder to attend than the Friday games, whilst all it means is you shouldn't get too drunk as you're working the next day. Big deal.

Only one of those games is a school night, and it's in July, the week before they break up for six weeks. The teachers, not content with a pending month and a half off, tend to just wind down in the last two weeks. So all they'll be doing is watching DVDs on the Tuesday. So take your kids to the Catalans game, if they fall asleep in school the next day I doubt their teacher would notice.

What that man said. I struggle with Friday and Saturday night games due to work. But we do what we must when they arrive. AND, on the weeks we aren't on, I actually have something to watch!

Two questions for you:
a) why do people find it clever to call football "wendyball"?
b) why is providing a TV company some say in what they show and when in return for money without which the sport would die "selling their soul to the devil"? Shall we tell Sky to clear off and return the sport to a part-time semi-amateur status?

| coz football is zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ,just a bunch of overpaid ,pampered posers, whos skill factor is zilch! most games have like,2 shots on goal, none on target for ninety mins!!! and only their bank balances are bigger than there egos , also they spend more time clubbing and seeking publicty than they do training! still each to there own i guess,,just my opinion give me rugby anyday

a/ Call it puffball then. Played by tarts, watched by morons.
b/ Definately tell Sky to clear off, but I'd use stronger text. The sport would not die, lets not get theatrical. It was here before sky and will be after sky have ceased. you will find that outside of the overhyped SL, Rl is still parttime/ semi pro.

| I think it is a great idea, they said on the forty20 podcast that Monday night 8pm is the third best TV slot for live sports. It will pull in a big audience as there is no wendyball for people to watch. Hopefully they will see what a great product Super League is and continue to watch, maybe even go along to a game.
As for the travelling aspect, this argument rubs my wick a bit. Championship clubs have had to travel across the Pennines on Thursday nights for years, likewise Super League fans travel across the motorway on Friday after work when the roads are at their busiest with people going away for the weekend. Most of the Monday games are local affairs, only takes 20 minutes for most of our fans to drive up the road to St Helens.
I think as RL fans we take a lot for granted, away games being one of them. Sky are showing here that they are serious about our sports, the games will be on SS1 and in 3D, which alone will pull in the viewers as people want to make the most of their expensive 3D telly/subscription. A few people won't be able to make it, but I am sure it will pretty much balance out with the people who wouldn't be able to go on a Saturday. Lets just enjoy the sport!
