| Greetings. As you will see from my username I'm in the North East but I'm hearing from my home town that there will be roadworks in Hard Ings Road, Keighley, this coming Sunday. This road basically runs right past Cougar Park so, since there will be one or two of you coming over, there may be some congestion if you're looking for somewhere to park near the ground. You might want to allow some extra time on your travel plans. If it turns out OK and you get to Keighley early and with time on your hands, you'll have more time for a pint in the Cougar bar.

I believe the current Cougars hooker provides the best value in the NLs and can cover a number of important positions.

I have to visit Keighley (among many other places) as part of my job, and I can honestly say it is probably one of the worst places in the North of England to actually reach, unless you enjoy a heavy serving of frustration.
Personally, I'd take the M6/M65/Colne route as the least frustrating of the 3 options you have.....Either through Halifax or Bradford being your others.....However, its a minimum 90 minute drive whichever you choose and parking isn't too fantastic either.

I have to agree with the preceeding post that Keighley is not easy to get to. It depends on whether the M62 or the M6/M65 is more convenient for you as regards where you'll be travelling from. When I've been travelling in the opposite direction I've used the M65/M6 route. If you come via Colne you will come into Keighley from the Skipton side, as it were, and you will come upon our ground straight away. If you come from Halifax you will have to negotiate the town centre, not that it's really all that big though. I wouldn't consider coming via Bradford, it'll only depress you, it's a bit grim. Sounds like Hard Ings Road is actually going to be closed which will probably be a right pain.

I presume neither the Leisure Centre or those two shopping parks close by, are an option for matchday parking?...

They normally might be but it may be difficult with a larger than usual attendance. Add to that the potential closure of Hard Ings Road and it could be a nightmare. All three of those options you mention are reached from Hard Ings Road. I'm not sure exactly what the extent of the roadworks is going to be but a closure has been mentioned; I've no idea whether this would be all of the road or just a part of it but whatever it is it won't be good. The logical detour if Hard Ings Road is in fact closed is Royd Ings Avenue which takes you past what is now the main entrance to Cougar Park (even though this is the 'back road'). There's usually parking along there and one of those two retail parks - Alston Road retail park - can also be reached from it but if traffic is being diverted along Royd Ings Avenue it will be mighty congested. I'm going to leave my jalopy at my parents' house and walk down

I'd certainly try and avoid the old 'Do you come here often?' or 'Heaven must be missing an angel' routine. These cougars have seen it all before.
Just be yourself.
