Massive Strides for the wire this Year .....massive......lets not be taken in by the little spotty retards from Wigan trying to wind us up We have been the best team in the league by some distance...

and as I have said before on this board I didnt think we would win the Grand final, and possibly not even get there, as we have to be fair come from nowhere in terms of the playoffs. All the other clubs have been in the mix before, then made the finals, and lost a final, before winning one....

so its all about being in the semi's being minutes away from Old trafford and knocking on the door...

next year we'll be better prepared

and hopefully the RFL will understand that deciding to not penalise holding down in the final two rounds of the year is a bit of a take and makes a mockery of a seasons worth of effort,

I'm not that gutted to be honest.....nowhere near as bad as the maine road semi loss in 89...it's been a great season and sooner or later Ganson has got to retire or get involved in a scandal of some sort.....

Can't believe your having a pop at Ganson, he gave you all the 50/50 calls. Think if I was you, looking to blame someone then Mylers your man, he took a risk trying to gain an unfair advantage and got caught.

Bick, i'm not sure we will be if i'm being honest. A few of our key players will be a year older next year, looking at how brittle Brett Hodgson seems to be you can't see him realistically playing a large part in our season next year. We have Ratchford but he won't be an experienced fullback for a while, Chris Riley is turning into a very good player but he's no Brett Hodgson with ball in hand (as in another stand off when we attack). Lee Briers looked distraught tonight in a kind of way that he may have been thinking that it could have been his last realistic chance of getting to a grand final. Matt King will be a huge loss next year, i'm still not convinced with Myler at 7, far too quiet for a scrum half in such a big game.

The lessons you should learn are dont count your chickens until they've hatched hahahaahahahahaaaha

We didn't have to 'knock on the door' of Wembley we turned up twice and won two Challenge Cup finals on the spin, the first when we were garbage in the league and finished 9th. You don't have to lose a playoff before you win one, we were easily good enough to win the league this year even tonight things could have gone very differently, Briers could have popped over a drop goal a few minutes before Sinfield went for one and then maybe we would have closed out the game, it's not like we froze under pressure and got belted.

I see these playoffs as the flip side of our Wembley wins, we smacked Huddersfield and Leeds at Wembley but have had retribution in the playoffs the following year.

Having said that I do agree with your general point I am not as gutted as I thought I would be. These days watching Wire is a lot better than it was in the old days, we play good rugby and have a strong side and have won two Challenge Cups and the league title this year and that's happy days in the context of being a Wire fan having watched mediocrity for years.

yeah I'm still trying to be positive.........I agree on Hodgson, plus I think Solomona is done... He offers nothing absolutely nothing...... that's a wasted spot for me next year.

But Leeds have proven you dont have to be world beaters all year to get the big prize.... I dont think we'll win the league next year but come the play offs we'll be better prepared.

to be fair we've been in plenty of Challenge cup semi's in Recent years so we know all about them. and even the big Challenge cup rounds like at Saints when Penny scored his blinders...its all a process of getting in the mix...

unfortunately we havent been at the business end of the play off system until today...

There's no difference though, all those Challenge Cup games are knock outs just like playoffs.

I think this business of us being bottlers is a myth, we've lost in playoffs in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010 and now. But in all honesty how many of those were we credible title winners...? Only last year and this year have we been knocked out by teams that finished below us in the league.

We can't complain with the entertaining rugby we have seen this year & at least we did manage to fill our stadium ,unlike our close neighbours!

Wire have been the best team all year but there is a lack of winning mentality from both fans and coach. For me Smith seemed happy at the cup defeat so you could focus on this and yes you have been punished by the pathetic play off system, but there are no positives from tonight! End of the day wire bottled the two most important games this year! Hard Lines but you should expect better

What an awful post.

''Knocking on the door''????? Wire were dead certs, if you were to believe all the hype they should have walked into the grand final wearing a dinner jacket. Personally I didn't believe all the hype. I backed Leeds last Wednesday to win in an arm wrestle game. The only way Wire were going to win tonight was by blowing Leeds away in the first half unless the occasion got to them, and it was clear to see that it did get to them. Wire bottled it tonight, I don't care what anyone says.

Ganson had nothing to do with the result.

As much as I hate Leeds and as much as I hate saying this, I have to take my hat off to them tonight. They toughed it out against a much better Rugby playing side and got the result they deserved. I still hope they get hit for 50 in the final though!
