| Came up on friday night, stuck in traffic. I went for Atkins, is there an official answer to this?
P.S. Slight typo, I noticed I'd missed the s from fastest, just before I hit submit. Most would have assumed I had missed a t, I know the answer to that one.

| According to speed testing it was Rhys Williams wasn't it? Atkins, Evans and Riley can't be far behind him however.

weve had this Rhys Williams thing before, and it makes no difference the lad cant beat a man and is one idle sod....
Atkins is the man that when it counts is going to be the player to beat people with pace, a step, a fend and will then have the speed and confidence to out pace his chasers.
I've not seen Evans Show great pace to be honest but he hasnt really got into space in the first team from what I've seen of him....
on a match day if we need a length of the field try scoring I want Atkins then Bridge to be the players with the ball in hand...

Doesn't score too many from distance though. As an out and out pace man, who can step at speed, and has the acceleration to get away, it has to be Atkins.

| Ran 100m with Rhys Evans when he still in Jnr Academy and I'd put him as incredibly fast for his age. Very powerful runner and could be the fastest in the squad in a year or two.
Riley and Atkins have great acceleration but if Rhys Williams is officially the fastest then can't argue.

| Williams might be quick over 100 but over 25 he's easily caught.

| Myler has a lot pace though hardly ever see him get caught when he loses his man and gets into the open field
Atkins has brilliant acceleration though

| I believe that Rhys Evans was selected to take part in the Carnegie Challenge to find SL's fastest man this Summer. Think he came third behind Jodie Broughton and Ben Jones-Bishop; presumably Rhys Williams was also considered, maybe that answers the question as far as the younger players are concerned?

| Fastest player in a sprint is irrelevant on a rugby pitch. Could Riley/Williams/Evans sidestep an opponent like Atkins could? Could the others go the l
ength of an open field quicker than Williams? I've watch Riley play in the U20s for a few games before he came back into the first team and I actually dont think he is as quick as he was last year BUT I think he is a better player than he was last year.
Everybody used to go on about Offiah but put a couple of defenders in his way and he soon offloaded the ball AND Ive seen Dessy catch him during a game.

Think that's a bit wide of the mark on Offiah. Put a couple of defenders in his way and he could change pace and direction in the blink of an eye and would go between defenders without a finger being laid on him.
He may well have never won a 100mtr sprint race against dessie or even Phil Ford ( who chased him down from the opposite wing while playing for leeds), Offiah was caught by plenty of players, iro, ET,Hunte,Sullivan, but as you point out straight line sprinting speed is pretty much irrelevant for rugby, see Dwain Chambers for proof.
Our own Fozzie was beaten by a gnats tidge in a sprint race against Offiah, however in wing play Fozzie was miles behind Offiah.

| I think it is supposed to be Rhys Evans but like someone has already said he hasnt got in real open space yet to show it. If i remember rightly he came 2nd in the rugby league 9's fastest man race this year behind ben jones bishop from Leeds. Atkins however for such a big lad his speed is brilliant!
