| If you like the military ones, I highly recommend 3 Para and Dead Men Risen (I'm in it ). Both are brilliant.

| funnily enough, i read mcdermots a few week ago, it was interesting to read quite close together two views on the same story ie, jamie mathiou being a knob.
it was also interesting(and a bit weird) to see turry refererncing sean longs book/story of him apologising after cracking his cheekbone.
Watching me, watching you, that sort of thing.

| The first book I would ever recommend to anyone is 'The Master and Margarita' by Mikhail Bulgakov.. purely because its the best book ive ever read.
shantaram by Gregory David Roberts... long but very good.

| Am thinking of dropping hints to the missus for her to get Tommy Byrnes Bio for my Birthday in a couple of weeks.
its called "Crashed and Byrned: The Greatest Racing Driver You Never Saw"
he was in F1 in 1982 the year I got into the sport...like the title of the book I never saw him....
but apparently its an incredible tale......

| 'Penguins Stopped Play' by Harry Thompson.
Fantastic read about a real life amateur cricket team and their many jaunts around the world....Superbly written, very funny and, at the end, very moving.
Don't be put off by the cricket angle, its generally a story about sports loving blokes and what they'll do for the love of their game.
Also, if you don't shed a tear at the end, you must have a heart of stone.

In the military context, Vince Bramley has written 2 or 3 great books about The Falklands War. "Two Sides of Hell" is a belter, and brings home the full horror of soldiering from both points of view.
