Warrington Borough Council has selected Muse Developments as its partner to deliver the £130m Bridge Street regeneration plan.
The scheme is the first phase of the council’s 25 year strategic masterplan for regeneration of the town centre and waterfront area which was agreed in late 2008.
The scheme is one of the largest active regeneration projects in the region; once completed it will feature new shops, restaurants, a gym, cinema, foodstore, indoor market, cultural centre, hotel and council offices.
Work, which is subject to planning permission, is expected to begin in 2013.

Blimey its about time that this part of town got a bit of a refurb, it has turned into a bit of a crap hole since the new shopping centre opened!

| Absolutely no point in keeping it as a traditional high street, retail is is on it's backside and won't improve any time soon, if ever. Mixed use is the only way forward.

Agree but the town needs its character back like we had in the 60's when i were a lad.
At the moment its identical to every other town centre in the country, bring back the outdoor fish market!

And that was the 60s, things have changed. One reason is the thing you are sat using now.

| wont happen, been going on about it for years and done absolutely zilch. They said the same about Winwick street, went to all that trouble to get rid of the textile place and we end up with a car-park. The town needs another bridge, spoke about that for years, and what have we got? nothing. They said the same about the old Rylands site, cinemas etc, and what did we get? A housing estate.
And can someone tell me where this waterfront is?

Every "re-build" our various councils have approved over the years have been good ideas in theory, but they don't get put into practice. The typical one being Winwick St as you mentioned. How many years have we been waiting for this. And the Time Sq refurb, too.
No-one's got a pot to p155 in at the mo, so where's the money coming from?
Where's the waterfront....I'll have a totally wild stab in the dark, and say Bridge Foot... I could be wrong tho

| Same here, I believe it when I see it especially in the current economic climate.
I remember the large sign on Winwick St 10 years ago proclaiming a new multi screen cinema. Still waiting.

| I don't get where this is going to be? It says waterfront, so does that mean starting where Smiths is and working down the water that way?

| Don't forget the council were going to do something with Wilderspool aswell, yep, nothing happened.
If it does'nt involve roadworks, roundabouts and traffic lights, nothing will change.
