| Thought he made a huge difference difference when he came on against Saints. For me he should have been on for most of the game with his speed and power.

| I must admit, when I heard that he had come on at half time to replace King I wasn't too inspired. He proved me wrong though, thought he had a great game, as I said in the MOM thread.

| Blythe for me isn't a forward, in fact every time i've seen him in the forwards he's been 'not that great' yet in the backs he's had plenty of good games.

| For some reason Matty keeps having to prove himself this season despite being consistently good. Another cracking job on Friday night and, in retrospect, you wonder whether he should have replaced King immediately following his try.

| Smithy certainly has faith in him, otherwise he wouldn't have named him on the subs bench instead of Cooper & Clarke

| Its difficult to know what his best position is, I don't think he has the hands/rugby brain to excel in the backs, but is he big enough to put in the forwards, decent utility player to have.....

| Felt he helped set the tone when he came on.
We seemed to be giving Saints abit to much respect after we let them back in and he made some hard hits as soon as he came on which we built on.

| Like Ron says Matty is an excellent player to have because he can cover Centre and 2nd row.
For me he is a similar place to what like Simon Grix was a few years back. Simon didn't have a regular position and was tried in the Halves, at 13,in the Centre and just recently he has been used in the 2nd row.
I hope Matty keeps going and takes any opportunitys that TS gives him.

| Was quite funny when he tried to offload in a tackle, giving away possesion. Briers proper layed into him.

| Quality back, iffy forward.
What he is now is a very decent SL player, who can cover numerous positions on a relatively low wage and who works his socks off.
I like the balance & depth that he adds to the squad.

If he had better awareness of his winger and improved his passing technique he'd be in the same mould as Senior because once he gets going on the edges he's a tough bugger to put down.
In the middle he looks too lightweight.

Cooper was injured.
Blythe is certainly a very usefull player to have in the sqaud, he can fill in at centre when required and do a job, and also come off the bench and fill in in the backrow when required. He certainly offers good impact and good energy coming off the bench, He's big stong and he's fast.
Whether or not he just wants to be a squad man is different matter. I fancy other clubs would want to take him and would see him as a first choice pick.

| We will have him back in our centres any day at Leigh 10 tries in 19 appearences, maybe another season before he is ready as a starter but definately will be a SL player for the future, if not he will definately be one of the best players in the Championship given a few years time

| Mate of mine consistently harps on about Blythe being better than Atkins. Can't say I've seen enough of us this year to judge.
Blythe, for me, is a centre; it's where he played for Rylands before he turned pro and it's where his better performances have come in the P+B, it seems. I think, for the time being at least, Blythe is just the type of player we need to keep at the club: he's homegrown, versatile-ish, has all the physical tools required and he provides great depth and reliability in the back line.
When's he contracted til?
