| Looking at all the other teams on show at Millenium Magic we looked like we were one of the most under prepared teams on show, we looked lethargic and slow for long periods of the game against Huddersfield, they certainly had a lot more zip and energy than we did.
Usually you can put most injuries down to being unfit or down to poor technique especially in the tackle, now i know some people will say that we have professional conditioners at the club and some of the best fitness people in the game working with us which is obviously the case but we seemed to be off the pace at MM for whatever the reasons are compared to the majority of the other teams on show.
So is it just a coincedence that all these injuries have come in a game where we looked unfit, lethargic and off the pace ?
Ive never seen us as flat as we were on saturday under Tony Smith, they probably are just a coincedence but a lot of injuries normally come about from being unfit and thats how we looked on saturday for long periods, six or seven injuries in one game isn`t a normal occurance.

Bad luck that we looked unfit and out of condition or are you on about the injuries that are normally a spin off from being unfit and out of condition ?

| Injuries are part and parcel of the game, but yeah we had our fare share yesterday i did think the way Matt king went down we had another Chev Walker kinda injury to deal with but i was sat in the stadium and not watchin on the telly so you get a different view of things!!
The Lee Briers incident could happen to any player going into collission Lee Gilmour use to get knocked out in every game so did Sean Briscoe!!
Grix has had a good run of late so he was due one really!!
Chris Bridge seemed to be tracking back then snap something went dont really no what but hope its not a bad one!
Mike Cooper shoulder i think is the problem, not to uncommon really going on the posistion he plays!
There is no right or wrong time for injuries but gettin several on the first game of the season well any team can do without, now we will see if we really do have strength in depth.

| You can't blame all injuries on fitness. However I do agree Warrington looked off the mark. This was apparent at the Wigan friendly when they looked a couple of weeks behind Wigan who were by far the sharper team.I can't see Warrington and Tony Smith getting fitness levels wrong so is it mental it's as if we've started where we left off in the play off's last season.

| bad luck mainly, nothing to do with conditioning apart from possibly Bridge's, in regards to King's injury i'm surprised that more players are not injured by this sort of tackling. Something just irks me about a defending player tackling low around the legs (so the legs can't move) then another player tackles the upper body and drives the player backwards, if the player around the legs has a firm grip of the legs then the only outcome is for the leg to buckle and bend either one way or another.
In fact thinking about it, is it down to bad luck or suspicious methods of tackling by the opposition? I mean to get one of two serious/non serious injuries in one game is back luck but 5? Really????

| Tony Smith is no mug, he will have his team (medical, conditioning and coaching etc) exactly how he wants them. I think Wire were just unlucky and hopefully you get the lads fit asap, I'm not like a certain minority of fans wishing injuries on others.
At the end of the day these next few days will be telling, once the initial reports have been looked at the medical team can look at it on Monday morning everything will be clearer (positive hopefully)

I was talking about this after the game..And i'm not pointing fingers at any particular team's players, but on occasions when a player is held round the legs and goes to his knees, there seems to be an eagerness creeping into some players to come in and hit them hard to the upper body and when they can't protect themselves, usually in way that the knee or ankle bends awkwardly...
Its not illegal but makes me wince everytime....

| There is only Chris Bridge's injury that could possibly be down to conditioning.
Matt King - Ligament, that is caused by a jarring, twisting or pulling motion.
Lee Briers - Concussion, Impact to the head
Simon Grix - Dead Leg, Impact injury
Cooper - Dislocated shoulder, again impact and could happen at any time to any rugby league player given a bad angle.
Chris Bridge - Hamstring, could be done by conditioning, could be unlucky.
Judging off your lack of injuries from last year I would say your conditioners and fitness staff are excellent. So i wouldn't read too much into it if I was you, it's just awfully bad luck.

| Just to round things off it sounds like Ben Evans could have picked-up a bad injury as well from the u20 report on the club website.

| Saints Fan in peace and would like to say, after watching every game of the "magic" weekend it certainly wasn't magic for you. Having said that though didn't deserve to win your game, as you were for the most part of the game, flat, you didn't deserve the bad luck with the injuries sustained in your opening game of the season. I would like to hope that we will be playing your strongest available squad on Feb 25th and that it has the same drama as the game at the Halliwell Jones last August.

| Bad luck is the main answer to this question. But ... and I have never seen any stats about ... do you get more injuries when you are losing? My gut feeling is when you are struggling in a game you pick up more injuries. When you are on top you get less. Has anyone any evidence to support this??
