| In line with picking a best ever team
The thread on picking a best ever team made me think of which players could have made the list if there careers had not been ruined prematurely by injury.
Ive made a start - any other suggestions
1. Rob Myler
2. Rick Thackray
3. Chris Rudd
4. Ronnie Duane
5. Tony Thorniley
6.
7. Keith Holden
8. Phil Sumner
9.
10.
11.
12. Mark Roberts
13. Andy Holbrook
14. Jon Roper ???
15.
16.
17.
My mind may be playing tricks on me with Thornilry and Myler but if I remember correctly, even though they carried on playing with other clubs ( and indeed Thackeray ) thery were never close to being the same player again.

| One from the early 90's - Paul Williamson - playing as Mark Forsters understudy until a horrific knee injury in a reserve team game at Bradford IIRC, ironically around the same time as Gazza did the same thing.

| Dave Elliott.
In a less dramatic way, Daryl Cardiss, in his Halifax days and the first few games he played for us in his first season, he was a dangerous fullback, but injuries took a big toll on him.

| Dallas Meade snapped his knee ligaments in his very 1st friendly for Wire. He did manage to get back on the pitch but the damage was done..
Steve Georgallis also did his knee ligaments mid way through his first season, can't remember wether he played again though..?

Thornily played for us for several years, went on to Widnes, dont recall big injury problems. Myler went to Salford after falling out with Johnson and ended up playing Union, now Richie Mylers stepdad. Thackary was a mate of mine was a right mardy one allways had niggles, probably had his best years at Widnes. Chris Rudd had a few injuries but all in all had a decent run with us.
John Dalgreen?
Chris Ganley?
Dallas Meade (waits for hundreds of replies) Played about 10 mins befor career ending injury.

| Dallas Meade is a good call - we never got to see what he was capable of...
Matt Rodwell was another who played injured throughout his unhappy service at Wire, could have been so much more if fully fit...
Mark Hilton would be one who although gave us years of good service could have been a much much better player had he stayed injury free, especially with his broken arms...
Jackie Edwards (Shaun's father) had his career cut short through knee injury too

| Gary Sanderson another who while a fantastic player for us could have been so much better had he not had massive back problems.
Ian Knott too falls into the same boat

| Richard Ross- cracking stand off who ran A team games but a series of bad injuries finished his pro career. Would have made 1st team without a doubt.
Barry Peters - decent centre, cronic knee trouble.
Mark Knight - decent back rower, played one missed six. Ended up at Swinton I think.

| RIchard Henare...ok he wasn't injury prone...but his off the field antics ruined what could have been a very good career.

1883.jpg Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

Fantastic player who kept Murphy out of the Lancashire scrum half position at schoolboy level.
My mother recollects a crowd of 18,000 watching Lancs schoolboys v Yorkshire schoolboys at Saints.
The Lancs schoolboys included Jackie Edwards, Alex Murphy, David Bolton and Keith Holden in their backline.
